No Scope PCI MIDI in DAW

Post by yayajohn »

3 Scope Project cards (1 is a booster) Windows 10 64bit Scope PCI v7
My DAWs are not showing any Scope MIDI ports. (Reaper/Ableton)
1. Sequencer MIDI In/Out modules are loaded in the project window before start.
2. MIDI devices are set at Device Manager under "settings"
3. The physical I/O MIDI connections are working.

Troubleshooting:
I have uninstalled/reinstalled all DAWS, Scope, and each card in Device Manager.

At this point I have exhausted all of my known remedies.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dan

Set DAWs to compatibility mode for Win8 and see if the drivers show up.

Good suggestion!
Unfortunately still no workey. :(

Pulling my hair out because I don't recall doing anything to the system, just moved the computer to a different room and the physical midi jacks actually work.

Something else stealing them before the DAW starts?

Remember to turn off compatibility mode if it didn’t help

Ableton has to be run in compatibility mode for the Scope ASIO as well I believe, and I don't use Reaper so not much help there.

Surely you know how to enable midi within Ableton, can you post a screenshot of the midi/controller page just in case?

Not true from my experience. I have Ableton running on Win 11 with my Xite and it has been working great.
I would be inclined to pursue that the DAW might be the issue except to me it is not likely since I am getting the same behavior with 2 seperate DAWS.
I'm probably looking at a complete uninstall for Scope with probably a registry hack to erase all data?

Midi0-OX shows Scope PCI ports! So progress.
I also plugged in my Novation SL USB just to see and the DAWS do not recognize that either.
So something is blocking the MIDI ports in both DAWS.

I'll let GaryB speak up here, I suspect it's still a compatibility mode issue with both of those DAWS, as it's something I recall reading before. In the meantime, you might try an advanced search.

My apologies for not doing one for you, but I'm busy packing a 5 room house and stuck with only my mobile phone, which is less than optimal for the advanced search function.

yeah, Ableton usually needs to be in win8 compatibility mode, otherwise, it should work....

Ok no prob valis thanks for the help today.
I'll try the Win8 compatibility thing again. Still trying to disable anything motherboard related to midi.
Gary is that a PCI thing? I haven't had to do that with the Xite.

Some time ago, I sent Dante some screenshots and he wrote some pages how to setup ableton.

http://www.hitfoundry.com/issue_29/ab_mast.htm

I use ableton9 on Win7/32 and ableton 9 and 11 on W10 without any issues.
A sequencer dest/source shows up in ableton directly after start.

So this was a MIDI problem only in the DAW. Scope ASIO has been working fine in Ableton 11 on Win 10/11 without compatibility mode.
The issue was both Ableton and Reaper and other Daw's were not recoginizing Scope MIDI and USB MIDI.
I have since resolved the issue by doing a Windows System Reset.

All is working properly now.
Still don't know what caused the issue but taking special note with each program I reinstall.
(I stupidly did not back up my Scope files and now I have to transfer all of my folders back in whoops heh  )
Thanks for all the help folks
