One VU 16Ch Mixer

Post by mausmuso »

Hi There,
I have been working on this for quite some time.
its a basic 16Ch mixer, with Channel tracking linked to Fader movement.

I was looking to create a small foot print mixer that tracks what the user is doing with regards to fader adjustments.
It might be useful in a live situation where you tickle a fader and immediately you have access to all the controls for that channel.

I am sorry but this is only likely to work on XITE.
I am still struggling to optimise my circuits. Hope to get better at that as time goes on.

Iam still testing but I think everything works as expected.
Happy to take any feedback
Have a great xmas
regards

Hi Maus,
Mixer looks terrific!
Unfortunately Scope crashes when I try to load it in Scope 5.1, so it's really just for Xite people I'm afraid.

I'm really sorry about that.
I struggled to optimize the whole thing, which probably would have given it life in the PCI world.
I intended to make 24 channel version, but unless I can work around the optimization issue it will probably never see the light of day.
sorry again

Really nice mixer Maus! Everything all in one place and auto channel switching is very handy.
It looks like it is spread btwn DSP 12 and 16.
The only thing I can't figure out is how to apply the 2 internal AUX inserts.

Thanks for sharing your hard work on this.

This looks great! I know you had looked or asked about having a section of mixer controls statically midi-mapped but dynamically controlling selectable mixer channels...did you succeed here?

(I'll test later, but thought I'd ask about the design's intent)

Hi JK,
Yes the midi selectivity works.
It took some time to figure out how to get around some of the midi 'forget' issues, but it seems to work ok now.

Hi Dan,
I am not exactly sure what you are asking, but you can connect the Aux sends to some source by clicking on them and selecting the required connection from the project's devices listed.

The mixer does spread across a number of DSP. I tried to it with DSP 7, 11 and 15.
I was worried there might be some phase issues.
I need to do t\some more testing to ensure I haven't introduced any undesirable phase issues.
Regards

The 2 inserts located above the AUX faders? I guess i'm a little confused as to their purpose.

The mixer resisted being assigned to any other DSP when I tried, I will test some more to be sure.

Ahh yes, each auxiliary return has two inserts.

Only the 2 inserts for the current selected Aux Channel are shown.
If you move another Aux Return Fader then you will be seeing the 2 inserts for that channel and so forth.
Its the same for the Aux Bus Outs.
You can only see the bus outs for the current selected channel.
I hope this explains it?
