First impression,

Installation is still a pain, even if you manage to import your User Profile and default template.

The Flux Wavetable synthesizer could possibly be the first good Steinberg synthesizer. It has a brittle digital sound, but I can work with it. It's beautiful. Hardware effects will help I think.

It seems to be getting better and better, I have seen the reviews and the capabilities of the new upgrade, and it is really cool.

For me personally, this is the best update. The 64 bit floating point option is fantastic. Maybe that's why FLUX sounds so good. Making music shouldn't be this easy.

My complaint, a couple of years ago between version 7 and 8 I guess, was that Cubase became cumbersome and cluttered with attributes I could not get out of my way. When you have too much, it becomes a problem after a while and you end up being discouraged, it was frustrating so the unthinkable happened, I divorced from Cubase and got Studio One.

As I can see, the latest upgrades are coming back to what I consider is best, it seems to be so customizable, and as you say, the addition of the 64 bits is a real temptation.

I haven't liked Cubase since about v5, but this is finally going in the right direction.

I don't see this Flux instrument in my update though.

I didn't like the right side and bottom windows but I figured out how to get rid of them, now I have to figure it out again because it came back. Not happy about that. I use shortcuts and macros for my most frequent actions.

I see you as a sharp, exigent person when it comes to instruments and software, in a good way, so I’m greatly surprised that you like it back. That’s a good sign for me too. I did not tried it myself though. What I could see is that it is really, really fast now, as fast as Studio One is, because this is one of the strengths of Studio One, wow… it can be so fast! Cubase 9.5 seems to be very streamline too now.

I find the gui-style of cubase 9 quite confusing.
If you're working a lot with sysex, cubase can be annoying.

To me these apps are just giant confusing editors.

For me, padshop remains the best steinberg synth. Lovely.

Pretty sure Klaus Piehl, the Scope/Solaris guy worked on VSTi synths for Yamaberg too.

Since 64 bit processing is off by default, that makes me think it's a CPU hog so I am inspired to build a new very fast computer next year just because of this. Previously, I thought my 5 year old computer was fine.

I agree, the DAW recording software apps are overkill in regards of editing features as also being optimized for the "masses" of today´s "producers",- but the old hardware digital recorders are also not the holy grail.
I remember the Mackie´s (see above) mainboards were powered by Intel Celeron socket 478 processors.
I guess it´s similar w/ Alesis.
But when you find something in good (cosmetic and) working condition,- you´d probably be fine w/ the "non" 96K versions because 96K w/ ADAT and SMUX devides usable channels by 2 always.

Internal DSP does a stereo mix for your headphones and/or control room while all tracks go separate into a broadcast wave file on USB drives, easy to read for most DAW apps.

Thomann has it too as also all the optional cards, ADAT, MADI & network.
uTrack 24 is EUR 399,- actually, ADAT card w/ 3 ports is EUR 249,- ...
Cascading up to 4 uTrack24 is possible.
The software app works w/ WinXP SP2 and higher up to Win10 and needs a Intel Pentium IV 1.2GHz processor.
Man ... I have an old RME Hammerfall 9652 w/ 3 ADAT I/O ports in stock I could use in one of my old PCs again ...

The flux is completly flat in comparaison with Falcon wave tables !! (Load as many as you want / can)

Really ? Falcon is the ultimate synth / sampler at the moment ! It allows any synthesis / sampling types, all together and much more !

I just don't want to learn a new thing. It's on my radar now though. Maybe next year's Black Friday.
