De /- Multiplexer

I am standing in front of huge wall and I don't know how to handle it.
Those multiplexer modules work only in a serial way, will say one output or input after the other by a trigger or gate signal, or?

Following problem, I have many many sources that has to be send to many many destinations, but I need to combine all sources to one cable and split them up again to the destinations. Can't be done , or?

Reading this (MIDI/Misc section) :

http://www.hitfoundry.com/issue_07/mmm_mast.htm

You would use a DEMULTIPLEXER to combine many sources to one cable.

You would use a MULTIPLEXER to split the one signal back to many outputs.

Haven't used these modules myself though.

Yes that's what I found out, too but my hope was to have eight signals into the demultiplexer, transport them through the out cable and separate them again with the multiplexer. Not one after the other.

I have to find another solution, somehow.

Thank you.

BTW: These modules are great to send some beats clock synced to a filter, then to an eq, then to whatever.

It also works with modulation sources,, first an lfo, then a constant frequency and so on.

I get the impression that these devices would not transport all of each signal - just timeslices of each one.

What you're describing may be similar to the new Alligator in Reason 6 - its a type of multiband gate good for chopping signal rhythmically and adding modulations.

Well, I try to find a way to transport many signals from one BC circuit level module to another one, with less cables as possible. That's my aim.

Well thats going to be tough because you want 8 times the bandwidth to be transported at the same sample rate.

I have to rethink the signal flow. Creating a additive synth is a nightmare. I won't mux audio, only modulation signals.
And I won't have a modular that needs 20 screens to see every section. OSC, Modulation, Filter, etc..... I have headache but don't give up.
