Parameter lock

I'm having trouble understanding the parameter lock function, maybe I'm missing something. I find that parameter lock indeed forces certain parameters to stay the same - but cannot figure out how to set WHAT it is locked to. For instance, I can unlock the 'External Sources' parameter, call up a multi patch that has a vocoder instance with Analysis In set to 'analog', then lock the 'External Sources' parameter again. I would expect this to lock the Analysis In parameter to 'analog'. Instead, the multi patches that contain vocoders are forced to use 'Slot 1' for Analysis In (when I call them up and check what that parameter is set to, it's using Slot 1). How do I lock 'Analysis In' to be 'Analog'?
