I searched here and in the net as well for a good VU meter but I could not find one that suited my taste.
The problem with all of them was their interface. I need a VU meter with a GUI like the one in the pic I am uploading. Basically it should be:
- big, so I can see it from the other side of the room when I am recording with my strat (single coils)
- with a black background, so there is a good contrast of colours for people who dont see very well (like me)
- accurate
- not very fancy, so its GUI doesnt stress a lot the CPU.
Have a look at the one I designed in MS Paint, to have an idea.

Who could make me one? Pleaasee!...

Have you tried j9k big VU?

It's big and it's got a black background:

Don't know if that's any use?

Cheers,
Ben

I Just wanted to point out that fancy or not, it's the size of graphics that stresses the dsp more than anything else. ie black and white device = same as full colored fancy graphics.

To stay in topic, myself I could try to make one because I would need one too, but that won't be before quite a long time (count in weeks, not days). So other developpers are welcome to do it.
see you

Hello to all!

Yes, I ve tried the j9k big VU but didnt suit me for the following reasons:
- the leds are too small
- too many knobs for my needs, i want a simpler device/interface
- I dont want the peaks to show themselves visually. I need it written with letters and only the maximum peak, so that I could know if my recording has clipped at some point or not.

Spacef, when you have it ready please let us know! I am a patient guy!
