cannot load pci projects on Xite

Post by nebelfuerst »

I own some PCI-cards with 5.1 and 7.
And I own a Xite with 5.1 and 7.

I can load projects saved on Xite on my PCI-cards.
But I cannot load the pci projects on Xite. ( I tried 5.1 pci > 5.1 Xite and 7 pci > 7 xite)

When loading, there is no error, but I don't see any new device and no wiring.
I bought the Xite to be the successor of the PCI-cards, so loading my old projects is quite important.

What can I try ?

Did you setup the 'search' dialog correctly ? To be sure Scope Xite goes to take the right devices in the right Scope Xite folder.

It should work.
When I started to use my Xite, I had to rebuild my project template to have it working fine. But I remember I could load the pci project I was working on.

The searchpath points to the Xite-dir.
If I create a project on Xite ( clicking some devices into routing window), I can see them in den DEV-bay aswell.

Now I load an old project.
The DEV-bay still shows the Devices, unchanged.
But the routing window becomes empty.

is there a pci install on that computer?

if so, rename the Scope PCI folder, temporarily.
load the project, it should ask for locations for all the devices, browse to the locations in the Scope Xite folders.
save the project as a Scope XITE project.

i believe the problem is that the projects carry addresses for files, in this case, for files from the PCI system. when you open the project in XITE, the files get loaded from the PCI folder, which doesn't work. by renaming the Scope PCI folder, the Scope XITE application has to ask where to find the files that are no longer present. pointing to the XITE files should load the devices properly. saving as an XITE project locks the file address to the XITE files.

Even my beloved BigmixerV2 of my old project still works :)

Excellent ! :)
Don't forget to save the Xite project file, rename Scope pci folder normally and next time you load the Xite project, it should be fine.
