Very interested in results Z270 chipset & socket 1151 proc together w/ XITE-1 and SCOPE 5.1.
I have a brandnew black 19" 4HU servercase in my basement waiting for new components to come.

Looks good. For me, I'm done with quad core - and will be considering the i7 6800K my next entry level.

For me the pc is fast enough. I count on more hardware, this compensates a lot of problems with PCs evil behavior. I have a lot of old gear I am using because of the sound of the 70 and 80 or 90ties are originals and not a simulation. Scope is the best platform to bring it all together.

Works perfectly with FL Studio 12 Signature, Reaper and Bidule.
ASIO 4 All even worked this time using FLS.

Don't need this, it's for my kid.
But chalk up another new build with Z270.

Next build will be AMD Ryzen but not until they design a workstation board with DIMMs perpendicular to faceplate.
I want a 1U.

Also overclocked the CPU to 5GHz using BLK.
Have a 240mm Corsair Hydro AIO.
56 C. 27 C on motherboard.

I guess Z170 was just not good for us.
I tried 3 x different OSs and 4 monos. No joy.

Windows 10 / ASRock Z270 Extreme 4 / i7 7700k.
Pretty bad ass rig.

Yeah ... does it mean it´s perfect for XITE-1 now ?
Did ASIO- and WAVE drivers work the way they should,- and MIDI too ... all Win10 and Z270 ?

Hmm,- perfect processor, but isn´t X99 chipset also a no-go for XITE ?

24bit Wav Source module for song learning worked and ASIO is fine.
Don't know why X99, B150 and Z170s wouldn't work but, don't care now.
Z270 is a feature rich chipset and the 7700k is superfast at stock 4.2GHz speeds.

That's all that mattered to me.
Thought NVMe might have ruined everything but obviously not.

ASRock Z270 Pro 4 also works. Z270 Extreme 4.
So 2 x different boards, 2 x different CPUs.

We're good to go with Z270s I think.

Thanks a lot !
Sounds great.

Last one:

You say SCOPE 24Bit WAV Source works flawlessly w/ Win10 64 Bit and SCOPE 5.1 64Bit ?

The new machine will be my 1st 64Bit system and I can live w/o using STS samplers in SCOPE and w/ XITE.

My 15DSP PCI w/ SCOPE 5.1 32Bit on a 2nd machine will run those well,- but WAV Source on a 64Bit system for me is essential too.

the drivers are not affected by the chipset.

24 bit wave source is all I tested.
It's important for me to play along when woodshedding YTube tunes.

Wish I could say why Z170/X99s didn't work, just glad the first 2 Z270 boards tested work.

Way more power than I can use live.
4 HZ has headroom 4.2/5GHz is just not needed for live gigs.

I really want that AMD Quad with 16mb Cache and 3.6ghz when it comes out.
Would love a thicker industrial grade PCB though.

The AMD Z270 Pro 4 also runs a 32bit PCI Hammerfall card.
Those using a Scope card for mixing and FX would love the power at 4.2/5GHz the 7700k offers.

dunno, you do,- but once http://forums.scopeusers.com/viewtopic. ... 41#p321541 you wrote:

"... one of the SonicCore XITE-1 "speakers" is the proper choice.

but first, you have to restart two services. with Scope open, right click on Computer" and choose "manage". click on "services". find "Windows Audio". right click and choose "restart". go to "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" and again right click and choose "restart". audio should work.

welcome to Windows 10."

Now I wonder if that´s still the case because I find such workarounds cumbersome always and prefer avoiding those.

that only needs to be done once to make Windows believe that it's usable. it has to be done with Scope open. after that, everything works normally(well, the wave drivers don't record in 64bit).

my home theater is a Win10 machine with a Luna card. i use the wave drivers every day. i also would not be into restarting services all the time.

I´d use it for the same purpose !
dawman wrote: ... just glad the first 2 Z270 boards tested work.
Jup, that´s great.
I was waiting for someone confirming Z270 working w/ XITE and Win10 (64Bit),- and you, using the gear for live keyboard work, are the man I trust in that department.
dawman wrote: Way more power than I can use live.

I don´t plan overclocking.
4.2 GHz stock speed @91W TDP is insane already !

You mean ASrock Z270 Pro 4 ...
I still have my Hammerfall stocked in original box,- loved that card.

B.t.w., the ASUS Prime Z270-K mobo looks great too,- 2 PCIe x16, 2 PCIe x1, 2 PCI, 2 native M.2 ... and so on.
But no Thunderbolt.
Now I wonder if I´d use that at all w/ a Windows machine.

Thx,- good to know there´s a way makeing it permanent !
garyb wrote: (well, the wave drivers don't record in 64bit).
Ahh, that was it.
No biggie, I never used WAVE Dest. for recording up to now,- also not in 32Bit.
But it´s not perfect when not working, so I still hope for a update some day. :D

Yep,- unthinkable !

Wow, this is great news. Thanks ALOT for reporting back this info dawman! I can now add 7700k to my list of processors i'll potentially buy next upgrade. I think i'll be waiting for Cannon Lake and Windows 11 but 4790k and now 7700k are seriouse possibilities to, for sure. How many Asio channels did you try with 7700k? Was it more than 10 channels?

I wish to skip Windows 10 and wait on Window 11 and I'm leaning twards Cannon Lake for my next i7 computer build since Cannon Lake is the next die shrink and goes down to 10 NM. Cannon Lake is scheduled for release this year, likely this fall. Cannon Lake IIRC will get a small speed bump up to 4.3GHZ and should have better TDP watt usage. Kaby Lake 7700's were not initially in Intel's plans and only got released due to Cannon Lake's delay, Cannon Lake is next die shrink. Cannon Lake is Socket LGA 1151 as well. I do think all 3 choices are fine 4790k, 7700k, and Cannon Lake and do believe the newer isn't significantly more powerfull than the older processors choices. All 3 processors are only a few years apart with release dates and thus there shouldn't be that big of a difference between them (it usually takes about a decade for big differences IME so 4 years isn't really much difference in terms of power). If I find a really cheap and new but already built 4790k or 7700k then i'll quickly jump on it and slowly rebuild it to make it more robust/top-notch, if not then i'll get Cannon Lake. It's great to know that there are a few options available that run at 4GHZ and slightly higher!
