Re: 4xPCI-Expansions_Box // for 3 PCI cards!
I wouldn't hold my breath on this device regarding PCI performance
it doesn't really solve anything - just relocates the bridge
the traditional 'good performers' had native PCI to CPU bus connections
PCI overflow may be a bit misleading: it doesn't mean bandwidth, but interruption of transfer
nevertheless for the price it's a cool solution for housing big cards (if the PSU is silent)
ps: I once used a PCI to PCIe slot-adapter, with almost no influence on performance (just to see if it worked at all)
the system recovered faster from errors - and that was all about it
my personal PCI top scorer is the Foxconn 45CS integrated Atom board - unfortunately just one slot
but that 50€ piece of crap was absolutely stunning in data transfer
cheers, Tom

Re: 4xPCI-Expansions_Box // for 3 PCI cards!
is that the one with the actual ATX power supply?
it might work. with one card, it will work for sure, but multiple cards may or may not work depending on the power supply and how you use the cards and the box itself. you will definitely lose some PCI performance over a motherboard alone.
i'm not sure that trying something like that isn't a worse choice than just getting a motherboard with 3 slots, but....

Re: 4xPCI-Expansions_Box // for 3 PCI cards!
Since some time I have this Thinkpad x220 with expresscard slot, so I just ordered exsys finally. I want to try it on my own. Maybe tomorrow it will arrive. I will give feedback for small cards (The 15 boards remain in my desktop computer...). Just curious & if if works fine I think I'll contact someone to shorten the case, so that it will hopefully a portable laptop solution.
I kind of regret, that I did not buy xite when it was for 2k for developers... 300+ for this case solution for old pulsar cards is a bit much for just having some fun, but who knows, maybe it will be inspiring... If the inputs work fine it will be a cool portable multiple ADAT recording solution.

I regret that too !MCCY wrote:I kind of regret, that I did not buy xite when it was for 2k for developers...

O.K. the case is running well, except that 'little' problem Anna allready mentioned: PCI OVERFLOW.
First I thought: Hey, just forget using reverbs, it's still great, but now it seems just to happen every now and then... If this continues, the unit has to go back... Looked so nice firstly.
