It´s probably matter where you live and where you gig.
My house is extremely cool, even when it´s hot outside, it´s like a fridge in summer because of many trees and plants around the house.
Nonetheless I do the same you do, leaving space above and below XITE,- in the studio or when I mount it in a different rack to leave home.
It runs luckewarm only ...
But I can imagine, there are locations where it might run hot.
I had the same scenario w/ my Bryston amp,- once in a rack on tour w/ 4 cabs connected, sunlight outdoor or lights indoor,- it ran incredibly hot, but it didn´t at home.
I think all electronic gear benefits from air cooling in extreme situations,- so a fan behind the rack makes sense.
