lolz!!
The closing remark - "Don't buy Akai" - and the camera pans briefly to an APC40 and an MPK49
I would record a different video for your ebay auction Faxi

Not because it is easy, but because it is hard...
Re: Faxi Nadu - Akai Rhythm Wolf SUCKS - Rantview Part 1
problem is akai is not akai any longer its now owned by the djmixer company
which brought akai and alesis
the last of the great akai gear was when it was produced only in japan
when it went into production in china they use inferior parts
i still have my japan made akia items the last and best was the akai s3200 i have six of them and coupled with my mpc60s
are better than the mpc3000 because the s3200 have the dual filter board and fx built in
when it went to the chinese versions the fx became a extra plugin board and cost more
the last of the great akai analogs was the ax80 x73 x600 and that was in the 80,s
they used cem filter chips so sound a lot like most of the 80,s analogs of the time that used the same filter chips
i still use akais950,s
the last synth akai made was a remake of the alesis which they called the akai miniak which is based on the ion and micron
most of the sampler ranges would never of happened if it was not for the late Stephen Howell who did most of the lay outs of the akai samplers and mpc and he did a lot of the akai library and the elesis fusion hd samples before really doing the kontakt instruments for several years before his death last summer he could make great samples from tiny memory and made the sound great
when people like bob moog steven howell doug curtis who are behind so many great inventions with gear die they leave there legacy but also a big hole as productions and designs cease
and then you get crap like this made by people who have no clue because they were still in there dads balls when the analog drum machines and synths were invented and used
even today roland has no clue in that they made digital emulations of the tr909/808 when any one can use a sampler todo that
and why the bootleg market is massive as diy are making the original circuits with the original parts to get the authentic sound
korg have listened as they start to rebuild analog greats
and arturia are doing it but for me it was always the hybrids were the best with sampling and synth making waveforms with analog filters giving the warmth

It indeed sounds like crap Faxi... And the scaling of the pots is indeed cruel.
It's then whole "It's analog, so it is necessarily better than digital" shite that gets me these days.
The Guitar Pedal scene has had cheap analog crap coming out for years - noisy units with a one-dimensional tone that go some way to approximating the advertised intention. The synth crew now have a this kinda crap to endure!
Btw, delighted you got to mention the ER-1 - it's a valid comparison - ER-1 would kick this RhythmWolf's butt!
The Bass Synth part of the RhythmWolf sounds so atrocious that you'd never actually use it... So you might as well get an ER-1, and something like a Volca Bass.. Or a Monotribe... Or that interesting Ploytec PL2 (http://www.ploytec.com/pl2/) with maybe a Mutable Instruments MidiPal...

Please someone buy faxi the new Timbre Wolf for review - the demo was fantastic, lots of out of tuneness and knobs that didn't do anything.
"We took the out-of-tune bass section that no-one loves out of the Rhythm Wolf and timesed it by four!"

we traded ours for two electribes, an er-1 an ea-mkII, good ridance!!!! i see the electribes in a whole new light compared to the wolf garbage
and haahha its funny, a bunch of people have said that "buy faxi a timbre wolf" i promise if people actually do that, i'll review it and then donate it to charity

akai made some great analogs in the past but they did use cem chips
it way out of tune they really should of gotten some one who knows what there doing if it has to warm up for it to tune then they have not fitted tempco resistors on the integrator pairs for the vco core which is just stupid as they will never be in tune.

insane that the timbre wolf is even out of tune in their own presentation, what a sad joke :0

wow that really did sound like crap. And I'm not sure it's just a matter of scaling the pots.. that seems like an elementary thing to me. But the synth structure and signal flow itself seems pretty basic and not too interesting. Who cares if it's analog or digital if the basics aren't even being hit.
Re: Faxi Nadu - Akai Rhythm Wolf SUCKS - Rantview Part 1
That's wierd, coz Future Music March gives it good ratings (40 out of a possible 50) how could the reviewer be so wide of the mark ?
Maybe the mag isn't so reputable as I thought...?

Re: Faxi Nadu - Akai Rhythm Wolf SUCKS - Rantview Part 1
Magazines are all heavily funded by adverts. Akai are probably a key advertiser in Future Music.
I was a subscriber to Sound on Sound for a long time and liked the fact that they did such in depth reviews that you could form your own conclusions. However, I almost never read one that could be construed as negative in its summary.

Re: Faxi Nadu - Akai Rhythm Wolf SUCKS - Rantview Part 1
True - but in the same issue, there are other more worthy gears rating the same or even lower, and another round-up article in the same issue where the Rhythm Wolf was stated as being 'not up to par' and a comment 'despite its detractors bla bla' so simultaneously they are hinting at its bad reputation and rating it at 40/50 ??
Mind you - one of the ratings was 9/10 for build ruggedness.
I can just see everyone rushing out to buy a crap sounding gear because its in a strong casing and wont break easily ....

He should have saved up for a Nord Drum 2. I would buy that without even testing it first.
Re: Faxi Nadu - Akai Rhythm Wolf SUCKS - Rantview Part 1
You are missing the whole point of the rythm wolf - who cares how it sounds, as long as it is analogue, you know the holy grail of synthesis
