A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Just curious about something...

It was marvelous of John to pick this up and run with it in the aftermath of the demise of Creamware. I was happy to donate to the cause. I would consider doing it again. But I can't help but wonder why this is necessary anymore. SonicCore's an actual company isn't it? I mean they have a business website. It must be running on a server and incurring monthly connectivity and bandwidth charges. Why doesn't SonicCore take this over? At least get the burden off John's hands once and for all. I can't imagine this requires huge amounts of bandwidth or time to administer. Or am I off base in my thinking? Just curious about other opinions.

S|C doesn't have anyone to administrate the thing. i'm willing, if it comes to that.

S|C have already set up the 'New World of Music' forums http://www.the-new-world-of-music.net/

So if the involved parties wanted to they could come to an arrangement where incoming traffic from here could be redirected there, but I guess one of the main issues for S|C would be how to focus mostly on current direction rather than be too closely coupled to the Creamware legacy. Fairness to S|C in this regard could result in 'Scope PCI' becoming the orphan in search of a new home.

And I would hope that in such a wash up that 'Z' would stay as a read only site for some time to come for all the historic information, links etc. As a recent example, Mr Arkadin, eHastings and Scoperise have hundreds of device links all pointing here that took many hours of work to research and set up.

Have you been there recently? I popped in to check on any progress updates and discovered that it's actually the new world of russian spam!

My vote is to continue on PlanetZ for as long as John is happy, as it is very well maintained and has a very positive tone (compared to most equivalent forums). It takes a lot of momentum to build up sufficient traffic on a forum, so I think there would need to be a really compelling reason to change.

Well this whole discussion is based on the contingency of what would happen if John didnt want to do it one day.

'As long as John is happy' is a no brainer - easy - coz no problem exists.

But that doesnt negate the need for a plan B just in case. Its obvious S|C / Audio biscuit etc dont have the resources to manage a forum, and neither should they (hence the russian spam) coz they need to be focused on dev.

Thats why GaryB has volunteered for the job (and would have my support in that eventuality). Remember though that GaryB is also the lynchpin of front line support, so he'd be doing the 2 jobs under that scenario.

Sorry, I'd interpreted krizrox's message more as "John shouldn't have to do it", rather than "what if John doesn't want to do it". Is there a genuine risk that John doesn't?
