I have attached a mp3 file from a SF2 patch that I would like to re-create. The soundfont only has this one wav file in it, so of course it changes speed with each key change
I am intermediate at sound design, I can hear most things and create it in a synth, but this one has me stumped. Any takers, I'm looking more for Direction from scratch than someone creating this for me.
A Study in Patch creation
Re: A Study in Patch creation
sounds like a synth patch with a large decay no attack hi res with the filter being modulated by a fast lfo with a small delay with a lot of echo for fx
Re: A Study in Patch creation
That's a start.
Can you tell what flavor of wave form is used, I figured a square but I'm not quite sure

Re: A Study in Patch creation
I would bet this one is a sine wave on weach you apply an uprising frequency modulation with a small sine LFO and finally a simple delay line ...
Re: A Study in Patch creation
Hmm, Okay Ill take what you guys have suggested and try to recreate this.
Any more suggestions are welcome.

Re: A Study in Patch creation
So to make this more than a question an answer and a a little bit more interesting, I will attach my progress in Steps, Once the final patch is complete, we can remove the Step files and Ill put them all in 1 attached file.
Here is Step One.
By the way I'm creating this in STS-5000. I will use the same filters That are available in the STS-4000, but when I get to STS5000 specifics I'll create a new patch with an added prefix or something.
Here is Step 1:
A simple Single Cycle Sine Wave with MonoLegato.

Re: A Study in Patch creation
uprising frequency modulation?
We are not talking pitch here are we?

Re: A Study in Patch creation
Yes, that's it, I would use pitch envelope (having the main effect on the sound) mixed with a sine LFO adding some slight modulation to the envelope ...
Re: A Study in Patch creation
Maybe Scope Modular would be a better choice rathert than STS for such purpose, no ?
Re: A Study in Patch creation
Scope Modular would be way to easy.
Besides, I'm not touching that thing until the 12 Chips arrive
My Emu Ultra taught me that a bare bones sampler can do some incredible things if you put your mind to it, albeit the STS is no EMU Ultra.
