hi,

with my asus cubx i have 2 ata66 channels for up to 4 harddrives; as an alternative you can use also the 2 ata33 eidechannels to use 2 cdrws and 2 harddisks; I read that doing this you help yourself concerning the pci-master-overflow issue; do you think this helps ? Or does this has nothing to do with pci-bandwidth ?

Probably barely be noticeable depending on your hard drives. remember most drives can not even do 33 megs/sec.

try them both and see how pci performance is.

(oh yes the 33 one is intel so it might play better on the PCI bus.

thanks defex for the idea that the 33 is an intel; I will rely on this when there is absolutely no other possibility (have to do a few other tests before that)

but: do you know if it is possible to record 8 stereo-tracks 24 bit 44,1 khz with that (I have 3 quick harddisks) ?

Hi there,

YES it is possible to record that amount of tracks on ata-33, I was able to record 11 of them as I was working on quite a big project some time ago that included live recording of several tracks combined with asio's, my guess is tune your system up as much as you can and you should be fine ...
