For the many, not the few.

Post by the_mind_as_music »

I've started a YouTube channel to show off the, ( I think), awesomeness of the Sonic-Core Modular platform.

I'm going at it big time with a Twitter account, Instagram account, Tumblr, Facebook and YouTube! And not forgetting Soundcloud.

Here's the link to the first video:

It is obviously basic at the moment, because I don't want to take a year between uploads!

Cheers, Robert.

Excellent idea !
But be sure everything works on XITE too because it´s the actual hardware.
Otherwise this could backfire !

Thanks for your replies, this sort of took me by suprise. I have only the PCi cards and maybe its not what you or I think it is!

My initial idea is to show that the Sonic-Core platform can at least complete with the Eurorack / Analogue Modular system, (as well as do other stuff). I suppose I could preface the videos and stuff with a disclaimer!

Anyway, I had an idea that I might put up a 'patch' and then a 'song', so with that in mind I have uploaded a more organised piece.

It's all played form the midi keyboard in real time which is kind of neat. In fact it's a bit like learning a whole new instrument!

Here's the link to the new video:

Cheers again for the comments,
Robert

Just to finish off, I've uploaded what I called the 'construction' video. It's supposed to show what patching is available and how it helps create the sound. Its a bit rough and ready (it contains a bug).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DobFaTOVViM&t=476s

As for the Xcite thing, I thought the bug was fixed in Scope 7, if it's the case that the stuff in the PCi cards doesn't work in the flagship stuff, that is a bit of a set back to say the least!

modular works very well in the XITE. there are a few modules that don't work, but they are the same sequencer/sample modules that don't work in 64bit as a known issue. please don't make it look like the whole thing is shit.

also-
very nice for making this video! XITE or no XITE does not matter. it's not an official "how to" video. it's just a cool video from someone showing what he likes.

Yeah ... but most demos on Youtube are "sequenced" synths.
It´s a general thing and not only related to SCOPE.

Now, the sequencers and sample oscillators make most "head scratch" in SCOPE, at least in 64Bit,- and until most or all will be fixed.
I myself, as a keyboard player per sé, don´t recognize most bugs at all because I don´t or rarely use these features while being on 32Bit still.
But I think, young new (potential) customers will be non-players, music-programmers instead,- and 64Bit system users.
I fear, most of ´em aren´t patient and won´t care about explanations and promises.
So, not every vid, probably coming too early, is help for SCOPE.

And I repeat myself when saying SCOPE´s "MIDI CC / preset / total recall" system needs some overhaul for sure,- something which isn´t essential for other users working w/ DAW systems only.
I do both,- and I wish SCOPE wil replace more hardware devices by SCOPE devices and will be usable in realtime w/ 100% total recall incl. MIDI CC assignment in (hopefully near) future.

At least for me, that is the most important improvement necessary,- and step sequencers as also arpeggiator functionality are absolutely 2nd row IMO.
I´d prefer improvements for sample OSCs over step-sequencer and arpeggiator issues.

:)

well, all things are possible in time.
sample oscs would probably be first.

there is a whole heck of a lot of other stuff in modular.
if modular is the main point, then 64bit isn't.

more is better, for sure.

what works, works, what does not work, that does not work, we will survive
...i love all my CW / S|C products, and also win xp 32bit,
and also cycling '74, reaktor, kontakt, halion, serum, massive, sylenth ....
on win 7-20, 64-128bit!
we will see forward ;)

original system owned by Vince Clarke (probably used as a backup in his studio 37B). He has used UMI sequencers for decades to compose dozens of pop hits. working on a pattern using the Microeditor.
