Flexor Modules, worth to buy, or not necessary?

Post by Marco »

Modular IV has 300 Modules. Im a beginner in modular synths, does it make since to buy flexor modules, or would this make everything to complicated 300+250=550 Modules!

i would learn how to use it first

modIV and free bcmodular and cwm modules will give loads of extra modules and once you are good with them then get flexor and spacef black box2

if you have john bowens rd osc you can use them also in a rd slot modular shell this gives you the same type modules as used in the zarg synths

the clm shell of bcmodular you can create your own mini circuits and save as presets this is great for creating wierd and wonderfull fx and filters resonators eq

theirs a lot of flexor modules that only work on one dsp so that they can only do mono synths

but the flexor site is down at the moment so i dont know if its still available at this time

The flexor modules are really useful and are easily worth the money
they are a superb tool

Modular is amazing and learning modular is rewarding fun
spending as much time as possible with modular is great learning. It's a great tool
there's loads to read about it here and on the internet
Synth school vids, Roland Kuits lessons and others
before long an understanding will develop a modular and something to really talk about/listen to/play
perhaps that modular will include flexor modules!

I´d second jhulk !

I have a hard time to learn Modular III/IV and BC Modular which I installed but it´s time consuming and I don´t have much time and I´m ill in addition and there´s the other life and so on ...

I´d say Modular is the most complex task in SCOPE and even I programmed almost any hardware synths from the past incl. a Formant Modular,- a real big modular synth running on a computer, for me is much harder to understand because of the endless possibilities and count of modules.

So, learn 1st what you already have.

Have in mind Flexor modules are monophonic throughout.

thank you very very much, these infos and the whole forum is such a nice meeting place. In my real life, noone of my friend knows what a scope or a pulsar is, they all thing it is an antenna or a star in space.

thx for all

Oh yes Flexor eats DSP for breakfast? I have 45 built in, so Flexor can come for breakfast and lunch together. :D

Flexor plays well with other modular modules.

Adern is still around. if the site is down, it would be temporary. i just made some keys for Adern the other day.

planetz forum = cookbook :)

just ordered flexor but could not check my serial number since i am not with my music gear now. i suppose they need it?

a little aside the topic, are there other modules or extra applications to play with modular iv? i remember hearing about a third party application that can be used with modular. maybe it was a sort of oscillator, lfo generator or some sort of stuff to bring new input to modular. sorry for my bad memory.

maybe all modular creators could do a wiki with examples of modular circuits as a cookbook for scope

In reallity its not realizable. Its a lot of work to learn and understand, but it doubles your work to explain, and it multiplies your work to do it with a ditacitc system, you must be an author.

but a nice thought
