Device for tuning solfeggio-like frequencies?
Device for tuning solfeggio-like frequencies?
Is there a modular device/patch where you can set individual frequencies for each different key to produce solfeggio scale and scales which do not have the "standard" intervals?
Re: Device for tuning solfeggio-like frequencies?
True Solfeggio syllables would require a sampler I believe and not regular vowels, or Vocal Formants.
I use to take Solfeggio, and at the time thought it was a waste of time, but after a semester I was able to point to a key on the Piano and sing the syllable with Good Relative pitch, which is something I could not do prior to the Class.
Good Luck, but this is a job for STS or another equivalent.

I noticed there is a solfeggio synthesizer for native use, but I thought it would be possible in modular also..

On a scope synth I can tune 1 key of the solfeggio scale to a certain frequency (i.e 417hz), but the rest of the frequencies wont match the solfeggio scale and are still in Pythagorean intervals.
Im not sure what you mean by 'true' solfeggio syllables though.. Sampling in STS is would also be good option, thanks!

Re: Device for tuning solfeggio-like frequencies?
There are a few different definitions of solfeggi, methinks.
RP, you are needing to assign certain frequencies and their multiples to specific midi notes, am I correct?
What are these frequencies?

I was reffering to sight singing and doing the Do-Re-Mi Mary Poppins stuff...
Re: Device for tuning solfeggio-like frequencies?
These are the frequencies of the solfeggio scale im referring to:
(UT) 396 Hz
(RE) 417 Hz
(MI) 528 Hz
(FA) 639 Hz
(SOL) 741 Hz
(LA) 852 Hz
There's a instrument called a Hang which is tuned to these frequencies:

Those are really nice music examples!
I was entranced by the two guys playing the hangs in the street

Re: Device for tuning solfeggio-like frequencies?
I know someone who bought a hang - it is a straight out D minor tuning, with plenty of bent partials ( a la steel drum) as the youtube ones seem to be.
I'd like to hear an example of these frequencies working together - might have to do an experiment later when I get back from my gig.
Anyway Jim - seems to be these these things play an F sol-fa scale starting on La

Re: Device for tuning solfeggio-like frequencies?
Looking a little further, it seems we have a proper "re-discovered" set of "plainchant frequencies" that "resonate with humans" as a healing tool. Like this
Evidently it will "dissolve negative emotions and events being stored at a cellular level"
Sounds kinda complicated, I just put an old Monk album on if I want to feel better
And finally an assertion from the makers of the hang - "Thoughtless use can weaken a person". Not sure where they're going with that - the more thoughtless I am the better I play!

it seems nice. a steel drum that you can play with your hands....
recreating all those overtones with a synth patch might be pretty tough. fm maybe...
