How do you get some Flexor LFO signal to the Mod Midi out?

Post by iSiStOy »

My question is in the topic, but here is a screenshot:

I can't connect LFO out directly to MIDI, which looks quite normal.
But how do you send a particular mod signal to a midi ctrl for some synth out there?

you already answered your q yourself :D by using a ValMonitor, plus right-clicking it's indicator / assigning a midi CC to it

Hee???
Sorry Roy... I'm not sure to fully get it.

I can't connect the val monitor out directly to MIDI out. I searched through Flexor stuff but couldn't find any helpful module (such as convert freq signal to Midi CC or whatever). Seems like the LFO or the val monitor signal is audio or sthg!?

Thanks for your interest by the way.

you don't have to connect anything to midiOut; if you assign a midiCC, Modular's midiOut will send the values believe me

tip:)
a bit quantizice module between lfo and val monitor can avoid to much midi messages

THAT explains a lot of things, like "why the hell couldn't I find a mod patch with Midi out connected?".

Also, thanks for the great tip, widy.

Ok, I've come with a basic Modular sequencer but now I stucked when trying to trigger the ramps from a simple midi note and have everything in sync.

Here is the patch:

I wonder if that's the best place for the Gate OR? Try moving it to between the MVC B and the Ramp module and see what happens.

Sorry guys,
the usual "booked with work" week.

Here is the next screen of my current mod patch:

...and send the Hyper Gate Out straight to the Val2Note...
This is what I found in the tutorial given by Wolf (the tut is called "example_w_flexor") and it looks like it is allowing me to connect to the Val2Note Gate signal. I tried to do without it there but I can't connect my gate seq to Val2Note Gate IN.
Try moving it to between the MVC B and the Ramp module and see what happens
As I stated, I need it for linking Gate Seq and Val2Note Gate IN. If I add a new Gate OR between MVC and Ramp, it doesn't sound as it changed sthg.

The only other thing I can think of is replacing the Gate OR nearest the Val2Note with an async2sync...but that would mean that the second Gate OR was causing the problem, which doesn't really make sense.

Maybe Wolf will pop in?

I think I tried this one too last night (Let me tell you my girlfriend is also nervous about me finding some sort of solution for this one :lol: ).
I'm gonna try again now and post the result.

Thanks again... & again... &...

Signal Polarity? If so, I think I've seen some modules that could transform...

..just coming back from the ranch (honestly)
IMHO using Flexor modules together with Wolf's val2note module doesn't make much sense. Flexor's advantage is it's precision = being very time-accurate. this is achieved by using "sync" dsp modules. so if you transform it's output by using a sync/async module, it's advantage is gone.
- you already saw that the HyperNote module makes problems when fed into the Val_In input of the val2note module: it's freqOut scale is different from a Control module's output. use a ControlSeq module instead.
so if you want to trigger an external synth by Modular seqencer modules, just use the provided standard Scope Modular modules:
CtrlSeq -> val2note Val_In,
another CtrlSeq-> val2note Velo
gateSeq-> val2note Gate.
If you really want to use Flexor modules, just use HyperControls for the two val2note inputs. (in the pic you see I used a CtrlSeqPSw module, which also outputs sync signals; I used it because it's "Random" feature.)
btw another nice Wolf module is "val2control": if a CtrlSeq is hooked in, it spits out MidiCtrl values which can control whatever Synth parameter you want.

OK,

sync-async means something more, thanks to you!
Now I understand why Flexor accuracy shall be used for control & accuracy of signal and that to midi out with these modules is some sort of a waste (even for val2control I imagine, because of midi).

Otherwise, the Hypernote caused me some trouble with signal level as you said but it is so convenient for drawing patterns.
I must say I'm eager for any pitch edition tip with these stocks CtrlSeq. How can one be precise with a mouse in this case?

Thanks for the screenshot as well.
I plan to use the val2control sooner or later and was in the need of modules and basics on midi note/vel/gate output path, I now have with Wolf's toolbox and advices.
I definitively don't regret it, and I will also get me the sPEQtrum really "soon".

Anyway... In this module case, I'll use Flexor more for whatever external devices with control In through audio path then (or the pro_wave modular module) and in other cases, for freaky sound twists :D

Let's use it.

most 'convenient' way is to use CtrlSeq2 where you can type in the exact values foe each step: e.g. a value of 60 results in C3, 72-> C4 and so on.
but you can't use the mouse in that case.
