Did you ever get a rush when you heard a rising volume of a soundscape that grew super loud and left with that sucking of a vacuum reverse sound as an intro to a song? Right'O, it was done on Tarkus by ELP, Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd, just to name a couple. But now it is done by Scope4live as I have taken the EDP and placed it in my mixers AUX where it can be attached to a synth or just use my controller to play a reverse looped scape as an intro. Just give the band a count in, and make sure the drummer uses some mallets dynamically to add to the effect. It sounds awesome !!

Damn near knocked my keyboard up off it's stand as I got a major woody. Just kiddin'. But it sounds that sweet. I had to record some synth layers with long releases that faded into silence, but DAMN, this dog smokes while it hunts.

It also does delays, and when added to Celmos PVD, or SpaceF's AUX Delay, it will surely weaken your opponents knees.

Getting my hat handed to me in Lake Tahoe by a fine jazz pianist last week has made me practice with an unequaled fervor. Then I go to Scope and really get deep.

I hope he is there tomorrow, as I will surely get whooped, but will fight back like a devil. Then go back to Vegas and practice some more. This fight is not over.

Tarkus - thats the one with the sort of crustacaen creature (with a shell that looks a bit like a tank) on the cover - probably called an 'Armourdillo' ..heh..I never actually got this album but your comment about it having the reverse intro effect made me curious to maybe check out some samples on iTunes and buy it. I wont actually buy it on iTunes - just sample it - I want the physical album.

I dont have much ELP in my collection - I recently got Pictures at Exhibition that I remember loving from the 70's...sounded full back then but a bit dated now - could use a remix through Scope @24 bit maybe....

...and Black Moon a few years ago wasn't too bad...

I think I have every album that they did, including some "Emerson Lake and Powell" and "3" My favourite is "Brain Salad Surgery".
Keith Emerson was THE exponent of early synths IMHO and Bob Moog would help out personally with his gear. I met one of their ex-roadies who had nothing but admiration for Keith. I met Keith in 1989 at the British Music Fare in London, I actually shook the hand that crafted such amazing solos. Tragically, he was suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I think he was a little technophobic with the introduction of MIDI too.

Apparantly the Tarkus track itself, taking up one side of an LP predated similar prog epics ( Genesis Suppers Ready, Close to the Edge ) by a Year.

Ive seen Genesis and Yes live, but not ELP. Yes was only a few years ago....still awesome. I have an audio review of the Yes concert that myself and a friend did - I might post it in the Audio section.

Dunno bout Keith being technophobic - I guess he coulda done without a roady or two had he owned a Creamware rack of B3, Pro 5 etc. etc. instead of the real thing. Those B3's with Leslie & pedals etc were 500lb+ apparantly....

You can't stick a Bowie knife into a Creamware rack with the same acoustic effect as a B3

I have a new method for Reverse these days.
The Buffers can store and playback audio files and automate the old recording studio Tape tricks on the fly.
They have note off on capabilities and a much better audio quality.
The same quality of VDAT actually.
The Reverse Loopers are also amazing. With a little bit of human/ look ahead ingenuity those Hendrix reverse solos can be done in real time, and also have their speed changed w/o the zippering effects of other Scope devices. 200 msec.'s equates into a quarter note, so once you get use to the timing, these Loopers can be set at 100% Wet. That way you don'thear the original lick, only the reversed sound.
These are excellent live performers and use an amazingly small amount of DSP.
G.O.S.T is the developer, and I am sure once Scope 5.0 and XITE-1 are available, we will be seeing the finished versions, along with other great developements.
Their Harmonic Bundle is awesome. Dynomic and Saw are a deadly combo.

Yeah - I like ELP's stuff and know Tarkus well

I heard Keith Emerson play it on a Korg M3 on a video a NAMM this year (I think) and it sounded like shit - I think he's lost the knack of it (prob no practice)
