I love that funky groove, I'd like to have the single instrument tracks to start some arranging and some additions...

yes sir! here is the same beat with a track of lead voice for a verse and a chorus. far from being perfect i think it gives a better idea of where i want to take it:

http://perso.orange.fr/bllsheet/beat.mp3

We are spending all day tracking voices and will export all single instrument tracks as soon as we're done, we might not have time to do all of it today though because i want them to be final and my white ass is finding those rap chops hard to sing  then i'll get a server up so that we can exchange files because that orange server has a 100 megs limit. We should be done early this week though

cheers

it's alive! a webdav server here:

http://absynthenitouche.kicks-ass.org/webdav/legros/

just copy this address, use file/open from IE and voilà, you can use it as a web folder to drop/retrieve files

if you are on mac, i think you have to use the connect to server menu off the finder..

i'll have files in there pretty soon

 it's good to see that the server works and the song is pretty cool katano, but if you read a couple of posts back, this was meant to exchange wav files representing instrument parts on a particular song currently being built..

cheers man

ok alfonzo, i've split the beat like you asked into 5 files here:

http://absynthenitouche.kicks-ass.org/w ... beatfiles/

take it away  they are 24 bit/44.1. it's 17 bars at 95 bpm including a one bar blank destined to have a click. no voices are in yet but you can have a peak at their beginning here:

http://absynthenitouche.kicks-ass.org/w ... bighug.mp3

more to come..

lyrics are close to an end/srtucture work. any suggestions/corrections? IS ANYBODY OUT THERE

:crowd talking for 30 seconds, voice over joking:

planet z
is the place to be
when you want your ware
to behave like cream

the people here
use the right gear
and talk about choices
that are hard to sort

there ain't no zizany
no enemies
we all are blabbing right
we like to bragg alright

it is good to see
that we all talk funny
cuz we are spoiled
with all those good toys

:four bar toy sample sounds with pitching synth:

huub
how 'bout a big huuuug
you gotta get funky
mister music!

huub
how 'bout a big huuuug
you gotta get funky
misty music!

i am a menace
i'm a scientist
as a gift that's bliss
i like to take a piss

now what's all the fuss
about all those clowns
that are willing to be
of this community

dirty your room
with all of this talk
jive it all you got
until you can't stop

you're a good man
and you got a good plan
you must have been mean
when you were 13

but

huub
how 'bout a big huuuug
don't worry man!
huub
how 'bout a big huuuug
cuz the man feels sorry
?you got the funk
hon

[martin luther king tone]
Turn away and regret the bad vibes
There is always a time when even doing 'right' becomes 'wrong'

If you have not tamed the enemy of your own anger,
going to combat with outer opponents will only make them multiply.
Therefore
with an army of loving kindness and compassion,
to tame your own mind is the practice of a Bodhisattva**
[/martin luther king tone]

[hippie tone]
who is this bod character?
[/hippie tone]

[sri lanka tone]
- huh don't know man here:
[/sri lanka tone]

:hash pipe swirl heard loud: :harsh coughs:

hub
how 'bout a big huuuug
you got the funk
baby

and remember on the internet
arguing is like the olympics for the gimp
even if you win you will find
/that/ you're still a retard in the end

[benicio del torro/cheech and chong/juliette lewis retarded tone]
oh that is sooo wrong man
that is so baaaaadddddd
'

:fadeout music while last characters keep shouting: at the same time : duo argument accelerated: and :crowd talking:

** was stolen from Mike Raphone here on planetz.. just pm me if there is a problem

Cool!

Now, it would be nice to come out with something done by all of us, I was wondering how could we procede....

One possibility could be to start working on sonic additions, like backing lines, rythm reinforcement, solos, all stuff that can be placed and arranged afterwards with a modular philosophy, each of us using the downloaded stuff as reference....then the new stuff, possibly of 16 bars as well could be part of the library.

When a lot of stuff has been added independently, each one of us can get all the stuff and build his version of the track, with freedom on the arrangement, the mix etc.

At the end all the versions could be uploaded and have a votation by PlZ community for the choice of the best mix.
A condition should be that each version should retain contributions of everybody, but with the freedom of each remixer to do the craziest things to all the stuff, chopping, moving, processing...

Everyone plays in it and everyone will be the crazy producer for his version.

It could be fun...

Strangely, I'm into the funky Herbie Hancock stuff these days. I could orchestrate some brass passages if you think it could fit.
