Looks like my problems are solved now - I made a new STDM cable of the exact length between the 2 cards dusted the cards [which had already been contact cleaned and isopropyl ed weeks ago ] and made sure they were rammed in the PCI slots and now the PC door is on and everything is cool after many restarts.

EDIT - The problem returned and it turns out the STDM cable missing error had nothing to do with the cable/s.
After much investigation it turns out that the card the messages referred to was not seated properly
I had to bend back the metal where you screw the card into the PCI slot so it could sink further into the slot
even though it was at its correct perpendicular position!

The weird thing is that I have been using this card as my main card with no problems at all - Audio and sequencing without any
problems.

Now all 3 STDM cables I have made work with no problems!
You couldn't make it up! I have been at the end of my tether with this one but at last everything is working now...

hey guys,

Sorry to update that the pins that arrived are not exactly what we ordered, and not correct :/ At this stage we are dropping the plans to do this, with how we planned to do this it seems at the moment not viable. If we find a better setup then we will update.

Again apologies :)

I have have two STDM cables for sale in the selling section they have been tested in my three card system [ 15 +6 +6 ] and work perfectly I can also build more if you email me I will order the parts to make more and take over faxi's project ;)

Cost = £15 [approx 17 Euro] + postage. I am based in London UK - you can email me at wooof at blueyonder .co.uk [ change to standard email form]

I can also make small cables for 2 cards next to each other which makes it very neat and tidy in your case ... or bespoke ones

Faxi, sorry to hear this, but I'd prefer that you use your very skilled time with code rather than hardware. If you wouldn't mind, could you tell the rest of us the supplies/manufacturers that you have found we should avoid for supplies? Someone else here can probably pick up that ball and give it another go. (I'm NOT volunteering to do this, yet...)

Peter - I just offered ;) - I have made many cables now and can test every one on my system before sending for strict quality control.

k500zm, start a new thread with your offer and we'll sticky it. I would ask that you disclose some kind of price and timeframe for turnaround, but exclude shipping obviously.
