PCI cards and X-1D Install advice

Post by ChristianB » Mon Apr 09, 2018 6:50 am

HI
Decided to sell my portable and jump on an open box offer for a ASUS Prime H270-pro.
Now I'M looking for some help to install properly my SCOPE family and see what would be the best.
2x PCI pulsar2 cards on Scope 5.1
1x XITE 1D on Scope 5.1 and 7

Is the Scope 5.1 compatible with windows 10 (64) ?
if yes
Should I install the PCI with Scope 5.1 first or should I go for the Xite version 7 first ?

Once both installed should I disable the ASIO driver of the PCI pulsar-Scope 5.1 in order to avoid conflict with the Xite driver ?

The way I see the hole thing is : I'm gonna use the PCI as if it was on an external computer... midi in/out - Audio out (ADAT) to the Xite.
Is there a better way ?

Thanks a lot

I can just answer to this question, that Scope 5.1 is compatible with windows 10 64bit and works with no problems.
I'm using it on 2 computers , both windows 10 64bit.

cheers

that should work. both ASIO drivers can live together. you will have to choose in any given app, so don't disable a driver. it doesn't matter which gets installed first.

That's pretty much the only way. Details here : http://www.hitfoundry.com/issue_12/pcx_mast.htm This example is based on Cubase and ADAT - I use Reason and SP/DIF now but the same principal applies.

Well, if XTC-mode gets up and running with scope v7.? then you could run your XTC-cards in XTC-mode enjoying all the benefits of having the SCOPE synths inside your DAW. Then you hook up the PCI-system through ADAT into your XITE and enjoy all the benefits from running Scope in Scope-mode :)

Even though your daw is using the Asio-driver from the PCI-system, you will still be able to access the Midi-drivers from your XITE-system.

I have done the above with Scope v5.1, but never could get it to run 100% stable.

Trying to install first pulsar card that has 5.1... result in none installation of the driver.... then tried to update manually the driver with same sad result.
Please note that I have now the same exact MoBo as Sonic core office with exception of the RAM memory. Asus Prime H270-pro.

ofcourse, did you try this first ?

To enable driver signing :
run CMD (command prompt) like administrator , copy / paste :
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
restart

install drivers, software .....
and then after you installed all drivers for cards ...
To turn it off again, use these commands:
run CMD like administrator and then again copy / paste
bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF
restart

fidox, I just tried your command prompt suggestion, Here the result :
C:\Users\User>bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
Access is denied.

C:\Users\User>bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
Access is denied.

C:\Users\User>restart
'restart' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

as to the method of disabling driver security, either the bios has Safeboot enabled, or you did not use an elevated command prompt.
here are two methods:

ok, here we go again :
first -
go to All Programs - Windows System - (right click) on Command Prompt and run as administrator
then copy - paste :

bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

restart Windows 10

when you get back into windows, install software and drivers ....
restart windows 10 again,
then go again into :
All Programs - Windows System - (right click) on Command Prompt and run as administrator
copy - paste :

bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF

restart windows 10,

hope that helps more now :)

By right clic on cmd and choosing I got the first line to work!

C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
The operation completed successfully.

C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
An error has occurred setting the element data.
The value is protected by Secure Boot policy and cannot be modified or deleted.
