This video has maybe already reported here but as I don't know... Very interesting if you want to know more about the solaris developer.

that's interesting and sorta ties in with the Klaus Schulze interviews in ScopeRise re the whole Moog thing so I might link this in as well to the same article.

There is some info about his work on Scope platform plugins at 48.45.
It's funny because I didn't imagine him exactly like he is : he talks a LOT and has humor, doesn't hesitate to laugh on him. My sympathy for him increased a lot with this video !
He looks humble and doesn't seem to improve his history to try to convice he's a genius.

Very nice honnest simple guy.

Hey, my reply was kind of ironic joke.
I know he is and is gigging.

I highly appreciate he´s not only a designer/ manufacturer, instead a musician´s mind is behind his synth design.

I´m very interested in his upcoming 1HU Solaris "blackbox" expander unit,- just only want to see the required software editor before to be sure it works flawlessly.
And I hope we can have kind of editor-device for SCOPE v7 running on XITE ... that would be ice on the cake.

:)

I was speaking in support of John rather than against you, would that I were a mind-reader though!

The fact that he's a bass player musician seems to be very important in all his life long. But he was attracted by synths like magnets are between them.

When I used to help Assaf with FleXor he said time and time again that many of the people he saw doing DSP work and designing musical instruments had more technical knowledge than musical ear going into their designs. I am paraphrasing of course, but I've seen the same sentiment from a few other software devs in the industry since (tuning things with a musical ear as well as technical chops is necessary to create a certain pedigree of tools). So, if we consider the pedigree of Solaris, FleXor and some of the other things in our toolshed that have come out of our Scope arena and who is behind them (Assaf is pretty darn good on Cello and can get around Logic Pro & his programming tools just as well), it might give us the wisdom we need to apply discernment to our other musical purchases...

In any case, this is John's thread I shall hijack it no longer.

Euuuuh.... I'm not sure I'll receive it next week. Apparently, John it ordering the different components to begin the n°7 series... After that, I'm not sure how many people build all the ordered Solaris but it doesn't seem they are a lot !

So, I don't know exactly but maybe 3, 6, 12 months...?

a nice track (for a video game, apparently) with Solaris untill the choir starts (I'm fed up with those huge choir everywhere on any media that have sound) :

A nice voice preset !

Solaris synth name comes from this russian movie :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solaris_(1972_film)
I've found the movie in VOST (russian + french subtitles) but you should find it easilly in english.

It's apparently a response to 2001 Space Odissey that soviets wanted to release (1972) but Andreï Tarkovski didn't make to wished movie ! It was premiered at Cannes : special jury grand prize. Personnaly, I gonna watch it... I love cinema, especially non-hollywood style.

In fact it comes from Stanislaw Lem´s novel SOLARIS (1961).
The (1972) SF movie based on that book.
I own the book and watched the movie ... :D
