Any Multiband Distortion Devices

Post by dawman »

I have j9k Satura, it’s pretty decent.
But really far from the quality of Analog/natural distortion.

I’m trying to avoid dragging around another rack with Space Heater and RP562.

I did have a chat with Mehdi a few years ago, just after he released the echo v3.5, about creating a similar but distortion oriented device.

Maybe now that he is actively creating devices again, we can make him look into it.

What do you think Mehdi, got any good ideas for a beautifully distorted device? :)

hi!
I thought I could re-do something based on the Dragon distortion from the BlackBox, but... digital saturation is not so fantastic to my ears. Even the famous vstis (guitar rig etc), I don't like them anymore.

Another solution could be something similar to the scope stock plugins but with a better UI... ie something simple, not a new sound.

I am surprised it doesn't exist already, even as a freeware. I remember there were a few of them, but may be it was the early days of Pulsar and they don't exist anymore?
I thought there are more recent amp sims (from Dna, but i am not sure now)

Right now I am taking a very needed rest from the latest devs (almost 4 month non-stop), then will begin re-doing smaller effect plugins.
I can't really tell anything about how long it will take.

But I will think about distortion, i may need it on synths, and on this kind of stuff, digital may work better than distortion pedals or tube amps.

Devastor 2 is sposed to be good ( anecdotally - I haven't tried it) https://shop.propellerheads.se/rack-ext ... evastor-2/ - something to do with the distortion in a beatbox called 'Phoscyon' - https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... gLEqPD_BwE

BIAS FX also - more for guitarists - not sure about multiband - but a Black Friday sale coming over at Positive Grid.

Just grabbed a few, if they work OK I’ll get permission to share.
My feelings are like Mehdis on Digital.
Once you use a Radial Tube Distortion, or matching impedance type pedals, going back to Digital is most irritating.
Like a Chihuahua trying to drag a Turkey back to you after you shoot one.
Little beast tries but much better having a Dog that Hunts.

Seeking a Rottweiler DSP Plug In.

I record with valve distortion. After that, anything in the box distortions is used for a different reason. Ie making ITB guitar sound better.

That’s a good idea Dante.
Get the Meat & Potatoes first, then a sprinkle of 1s and 0s.
I like it.

Anyone tried using a valve pre as an insert out of DAW then back in ? If I ever have 3 large to splash I might try something like this http://musicplayers.com/reviews/guitars ... GLe580.php

That sounds interesting.
How would you do this in Scope without buying a Rane rackmount?

For $5 and a half large, theres no digital IO but I don't give a shit & would quickly loop it into the mastering chain :

My wife.
