The truly truth about onboard ram on pci cards

Post by elektrohamster »

Hi!

We all know that the early big cards (e.g. power pulsar) had 4 ram chips on board.

But the mysterious question is: Were they ever be used by the software?

Is there any scope atom that make use of it?

Sur Audio Labs posted some devices that used the RAM from the DSP's on the Xite. Have not heard of any for the PCI cards though.

It is used by several delays for example...delay needs a buffer ofcourse but are limited in amount. There are several other atoms which use it and it is all used for buffering.
