Does anyone know how to rebuild this filter? So no need to buy this new device! I have a Orbit and the emu phatt with this filter, but it would be great to have this in scope! Maybe ocean swift synthesis can try this?

That's a cool device, so many different modules in the Eurorack world if only I had the money.....

Have you tried this one? Obviously not as sophisticated but might accomplish the xyz morph concept?

The EMU Z-Plane Filters were already in the EMU EOS samplers series.
They are already in my EMU E64 being included in the OS/firmware.
Proteus series had ´em too.

Good news: They are all software
Bad news: They are patented.
Re-creation for commercial use might be impossible though.
Dave Rossum is EMU founder, so he´s the one who can.

If I could, I would build a X-rate Filter, not the same but the uncle of Z-plane (inspired by Z-Plane)

Just buy SpaceFs Black Box.
Basically all of the EMU Stuff with cooler names and more Filters than EMU.
The High Drix and Lo Drix Filters make my Rhodes sound like Josef Zawinul...

Morpheus filter looks awesome ! Especially the little cube !

But you should be able to obtain the same result on Scope, with modular. I'm not sure SpaceFs Black Box is easy to find...
The best way is to PM Spacef = Mehdi.

Just ask him if it's still available ! BBII is a huge collection of filters, fx, synths for Scope. Essential.

Can you make that evident ?

Z-Plane filters came w/ EMU Morpheus in 1993, my ProteusFX had ´em too and came in 1994.

I´d be surprised about patents expiring so soon (after less than 24 years),- even in the US.

Patents are limited to 17 years in the US from issue date or 20 years from filing date, depending on the year it was filed. Either way, they are public domain at this point.

So Andy Cytomic did a lot of tests with established producers who used to use the EMU samplers in the 90's and wanted to recreate "that sound". He was interested in adding the filter models to The Drop (Cytomic's filter) or possibly making a new device to emulate the z-plane filters. What they found is the the zplane filters were the least interesting part of the Emu sound and the classic emu bass line effects were mostly over driving the outputs of the emu and soft clipping right at that point, in combination with extensive resampling and whatever mixer people were using at the time.
