Mixer SFP and MIDI
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
Truly have you seen an advertisement the last years?
I think your instruments deserve to be treated with some respect.
Make them right. Record them. Go on.
Use your daw for automation which works reliably.
It's a pity it doesn't work as it should, but few things are, in this world.
I would also like the common daw that i can find for free
to offer me the sound and functionality of scope but it only offers a reliable automation system.
But i prefer sound and specific functionality.

You can't reach my standards my friend even if you have lived 10 lives
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
no, hubird.
official support is obtained by writing in to support. that is my job. this is not my job. this is what i do for free. also, there is no support for Creamware hardware or software, although SonicCore does provide keys for v4 and SonicCore does archive some Creamware software. this costs SonicCore money, but is provided free, as a goodwill service.
this is not official SonicCore technical support. it is user help. i'm a Scope user just like everyone else.

Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
writing to S/C support brings me to you, isn't it?
For the community it's undoable to check what hat you're wearing at some point...

Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
I agree @CatScratch it's a bug that should be fixed and SC should take some resposibility whether its a Creamware hangover or not.
On the other hand I would spend minimal time on generating that heat and use workarounds. IIRC I had no such issues with the STM1632 whilst building the iPad remote mixer.
Im doing all mixing natively in Reason - using Scope for synths and mastering. This setup - works near perfectly - the only limitation being poly on Scope synths. I can have as many channels and subgroups as I want and all the automation I want without practical limit.
This 'perfect setup' - ironically I never would have discovered by serendipity if not for an experiment with @fra77 and mixing @96khz !
Simply - if a piece of gear doesn't work the way you need it to, replace it ! That's the reality of studios since day dot anyway - hardware or software.

Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
hubird, sorry. i don't live in your reality just because you want me to.
maybe i should leave PlanetZ?
maybe i should leave PlanetZ?
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
Noooooooooooooooo ! I vote don't do that @gary
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
If you ask me personally, I would prefer a politically neutral and bussinesslike more independent moderator, yes.garyb wrote:[...]maybe i should leave PlanetZ?
But don't take that personal, it's just a matter of policy thinking
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
I wouldn't - because then he would have to become like a robot and no personality
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
Hubird find a job first and then talk about "businesslike" behavior.
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
I never did understand this topic.
I have 100% mixer automation for live work.
Always have or I wouldn't use these in a situation where total control is mission critical.
I save presets for the 3 controllers I use.
BCF 2000 Casio PX Phsis K4.
Presets for each controller call up the same mixer packed with effects which are recalled too.
So what is the mixer bug ?
Maybe because I use a "-" (minus) before each preset it helps.?

Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
Yep. Total recall - its a great thing
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
Your behaviour as a 3rd party developer here isn't bussinesslike at all.fra77x2 wrote:Hubird find a job first and then talk about "businesslike" behavior.
You always have to draw back after an eruption of shameless behavior, saying I'll shoot myself in my foot next time, and the like.
Go home
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
ok, thanks. that's enough for now.
Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
To keep from having to upset the natural order of synth presets years ago I always made sure my presets had a "-" so they would be first Bank.catscratch wrote: Are you talking about synth presets? I'm talking about cc assignments which can be stored as a preset in the mixer but that has never been reliable for me. I will be looking into your minus theory soon.
I simply carried this over to the MIDI CC Presets and eventually learned how to delete all other folders in my Live projects.
Other projects like stock, or editing, etc. are in an entirely different Scope Folder that I can always draw devices and presets from.
I stopped using the STM 1632X and went with the STM 2448.
Now I have not tried every little command like the compressors or bypass buttons.
Never use them, but if I do want to recall the settings I use SAL PRJ device since it also re routed my MIDI any where I want in real time.
But channels, mute buttons, solo buttons, AUX and BUS sends, all recallable every time I use them.
Even the Insert FX are all recalled properly and no need to load the FX CC Assignments manually...

More on this from Bud & Dawman under the 'Preset Autoindex' tab here :

Pay note to the animated gif.
@Catburglar, Not sure if this relates 100% your issue, but might be of some value add in terms of explaining the history behind the mysterious '-1' usages...

Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
If all else fails use SALs PRJ Preset List device.
Best 50 bucks I ever spent.

Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
Wow ! What a mess !!
In all my tracks, I automated STM -> everytime I assign a midi CC to STM, I update its track preset. In cubase, one or 2 bar before the track starts, I draw STM CC's to check if all respond, because sometimes, they don't. I check if all respond by playing those bars and watching fader/knobs moving. I write in a note all STM CC's coresponding to be sure to remember them. If I see the preset don't recall one or 2 CC, I reassign them, resave the preset and next time, it works.
But some rare time, one CC insists to not work, even after saving the preset several times -> I delete the preset, create another one with the one that bother me and next time, all is working.
There IS ways to work around that bug but one needs to be patient & methodical ... And wait for .... Scope 6 !

Re: Mixer SFP and MIDI
again, presets don't work.
saving the project does.
