things that do not work in 64bit are often almost 20 years old.
SC does not automatically disable old products just to make you buy new ones.

Down that road likes a slippery slope when talking about computers. The other side of that coin is "we've not updated our software in 20 years." That's how it looks to an outsider.

That's exactly what we are or should talking about: how does it look to an outsider?
It supposes another point of view, it's a PR thing, aside from eh, how passive can you be where you should show off?

My only interest is a surviving platform and company, which is in line with the (general?) feeling that a more interactive presentation of it's content would be more than welcome.
Especially when the serious work lasts, so Scope 6.

Right! I agree 100%. The only barrier to entry should be the price.

For knowing the dsp structure (this helps!). Look here:

Why is there a need to assign DSPs? This is not even possible on the PCI cards and it seems to work properly. But I never load them even close to 100%.

Thanks,

You don't need to, it's just a handy thing to know occasionally. Most of the time I never bother assigning anything, but if the project is getting large it can be handy to assign DSPs to get a bit more out of the XITE.

because there are so many DSPs in the XITE, that sometimes the automatic script isn't efficient. it's to get the maximum power out of the machine. most people would never need to worry about this.

I never understood nothing about DSP assignment... But when you have a huge project and get a max sat reached message (or something like that), just open the DSP meter, find the less buzy dsp's, look for the heaviest devices on your project then assign them to the less buzy dsp's untill you don't have the message, then save your project.
Et voilà. With this trick, I always can add devices ! :)

Well well well... Hm. Is it normal to not get any sort of documentation at all? Seems odd to be doing web searches just to find out where to download the software. :-?

Thanks. I did find it. I just thought it odd that there wasn't even a printed manual...

You'll find all the manuals after install. The printed one is just the 'quick start'...
