why not take me up on my offer?

didn't you get a CD with the software and another with the keyfile?

as to the drivers, win8 and win10 users must turn off driver signing, since the SC driver is not signed by M$. this is a basic windows thing:

Sorry, I probably shouldn't have been posting. I was trying to sneek the installation process in during my daughter's nap and right at the install point she started stirring. (she wakes up singing. It's impossibily cute, but I know when I hear her first notes that I have about 10 minutes before she calls for me. If I go in too soon, I'm sent away.) Usually I have Fridays free, but evidently, every single minor holiday as well as three weeks of vacation isn't enough for my lil' sweet'ms day care provider. But I digress. :D The real news here is that a package can get from Deutschland to California in under a week. I once waited 6 months for a live hermit crab that I ordered from the back of a comic book.

Anyway, I'm adept enough to get an PCIe card installed and it wasn't until after that point that I went back to dig for the manual and such to find out that there was... nothing. No manual... no CD. I do like to crack open a hard copy manual, I must say. That's a little disappointing. The unit itself is beautiful. Very austere-Vader. Build quality seems very high. I was most surprised that the connection between the PCIe and the XITE-1 was HDMI. That's nice. I was expecting some bulky proprietary cable. I forgot that the back connections weren't the nested XLR/1/4" type so I'll be needing some cables to get my Kemper Amp Profiler and monitors hooked up. Luckily I pass a Guitar Center every day. Stay tuned....

Thanks,

because there are so many DSPs in the XITE, that sometimes the automatic script isn't efficient. it's to get the maximum power out of the machine. most people would never need to worry about this.
unless you are running certain synths with reasonable polyphony (5) ... not a criticism as is a very easy process. tend to do it as standard to avoid any issues.

about the HDMI cable-

while the cable is an HDMI cable, the protocol is NOT HDMI. beware of accidentally plugging into an actual HDMI port, if there is one already on the computer or graphics card.

Dual link/Single link? I had to get a Dual for my new monitor for some reason, hmm. Quadro fx 1700 works great still. Best 15$ ever spent :D

Oh sheizer!

HDMI. There are too many cable types out there. DisplayPort? what is that? I just use the good old DVI.

Thanks for those hints. Those links didn't work for me, but the signature thing put me on the right track. Microsoft must have changed things since those links were published. This is what ended up working for Windows 10 64 bit:

I managed to get Scope running... but yeah, I shall call you later for sure as I couldn't even figure out how to get the routing correctly done to work with Live. Seemed like you should be able to click and drag those connectors but I could not. Of course, today I need to RTFM. :D

The routing can be tricky for some at first, but corresponds to real-world signal flow. Once you've loaded the driver modules you wish to use and did all the necessary routing you can save that configuration so that you don't have to do it again.

By default SCOPE launches within the Project Window, you can switch to classic mode to remove this and the Live-Bar can be on your desktop not encased in anything.

Turn on XITE-1 before you turn on your computer to start work. When finished turn off monitors first so no transients can come into them, then turn off computer, then XITE-1. I forgot to turn off my monitors first many times and tho nothing bad has happened it's still good practice cause mild transient noises do occur and this sequence is what the manual states to do.

You should've gotten a small paper manual along with a CD.

Yes,

The PCI cards do this pulse thing too when turning on the PC. Mine is always on, so no big deal.

Never blew my monitors.

If I keep more than 2 analogs, I'll need more i/o than the XITE-1D can provide. It occurred to me last night that I have two older MOTU 828 interfaces that might be put to good use for this... possible? They have ADAT outputs, though I've never used them"

Short answer is YES. When i was short of cash and had to wait to find a nicely priced A16Ultra, I also used my MOTU 896hd as an 8 channel adat interface. The link below xplains how to set it up to do this. The only issue is that the ADAT will only work one way in each interface, so you get to use each 828 as an ADAT in (A/D) or ADAT out (D/A) only....If using it as a A/D into the Xite1 you will have to set it as the master clock (as it will not be able to receive a clock from anywhere else when it is in D/A mode). Also when in 'stand alone adat mode' you can only use it's analogue inputs OR it's analogue outputs but not both at the same time..will still give you 8 in, 8 out if you use 2 though....

http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technot ... -converter

My motu now acts as a mobile backup if i need to do off site recordings and imo they are always worth keeping even if just for the nice dark sounding preamps.
Crap, I just tried this and no dice with my old 828 MK1. Shame. May as well ditch it.

strange - are you sure you set the motu up correctly?
also, can you run 'cuemix'on the mk1 828 ? if not my idea will probably not work...
