Free Windows 10 Upgrade - Scope still working

Post by soylent.green »

Today my Windows 7 (64 bit) pops up a "Get your free Windows 10 now - this is a limited offer...".
Has anybody done the Windows 10 Update yet? And if yes, how about Scope Drivers and Software. Everything still working properly?
To be more precise I have two old fashined scope 6 DSP cards, I'm not a xcite user...
Feedback wellcome, thanks in advance

EDIT: Okay I jumped the gun a bit...;-) The notification has really only been a notification for release date of Win10 on June 29th. But anyway, if any recommendations or experience will be available then, please post here...

There are at least 2 other threads on the subject. The short story is that windows 10 should work with scope v5.1 - Whether if it is a good idea to upgrade to windows 10 as a Scope user, is still up to debate:

Ok, so , i'll update to win10 first my win 8.1 home 64bit machine, where i have few luna II cards and place for testing.
I'll update my main audio machine with win 8.1 pro 64bit installed, if few DAS plugins will work normally.

I hope Dante :)

One option will be to pull out my luna II card from my main audio computer, windows 8.1 pro 64bit (without spring update), cause i have all keys registered to that Luna II card and try MasterIT and C350 plugin and install card on this computer first.

But, i also know , that to this date, with all updates for 8.1 , das plugins doesn't work, cause , i was trying to load un-registered versions, here on win 8.1 home machine, just to try loading modules and computer also freezes right away or little later.

you know, as i think of it now, it's probably a permissions issue, because it's a security issue. that should be something that can be overcome. has anyone tried the permissions settings for those files?

Cant see a specific permissions test mentioned here http://forums.planetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33033 - I recall right clicking on the file properties and dicking around there - may have been permissions but it a while back now...

there are defintely controls for permissions for each file. they're pretty important in later versions of windows...

I'm playing arround Das C350 files (un-registered) version.

Still got message "can't find DSP file DAS COEF11 VxD", but after that module is loaded (ofcourse with messages about registration) , but anyway,
so far computer doesn't freezes.
I'll leave loaded for a while and see thru the day if anything happens. :)

I'm trying to think what i have changed ,so message COEF11.sys doesn't appear.

That didn't work. Under 8.0 I have to run as admin anyway.

Fidox, do you have MasterIT to test ? As soon as that's known to work on W10 I'm clear to leapfrog 8.1 and go straight to W10.

Are you guys using the DAS 64 bit versions? If you're running the 32 bit version you will get that error on 64 bit systems. Probably the problem with Win 10 also. Can't hurt to try. Here's the files:

ftp://sonic-core.net/software/scope5/pl ... sions/DAS/

You may also have to run in admin mode but I don't know Win 10.

I don't understand. I thought all plugins were only 32 bit. I had an issue with Zarg stuff until I ran Scope as admin.

DAS 64 bit files dont fix the KB2919355 related problem on Win 8.1

What i have figured so far is :

DAS COEF11.sys dated 31.01.2008 :

devices DAS C350 and MasterIt loaded fine , but with error message "can't find DAS COEF11.sys", after that device loaded

DAS COEF11.sys dated 28.06.2011 :

-this file was under 64bit versions of DAS C350 and MasterIT,
-after hiting C350 device, computer restarts right away, next time freezes ....

Dante , do you have error message while loading DAS devices with COEF11.sys which is under 64bit versions of DAS plugins ?

Not since reverting to Win 8 and running as admin. I don't have an 8.1 installation to retest. I'll either be going to W10 or staying on 8.0. No point spending the time on 8.1 if 10 works.

Is there any benefit to running SCOPE on anything beyond Win 7?
