DC Output

Post by Shayne White »

Hi,

Does anyone know if the A16 Ultra supports DC ouput? I have an analog modular synth that I want to control with Motu's Volta plugin, but MOTU says it requires DC output. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks!!

I read someplace that you can buy an A16 ultra that isn't capacitively coupled, so can do the DC that Volta needs.

If the A16, like the Behringer ADA8000 (schematic), uses caps to filter the DC, you could just short those...

That's a DIY hack, and I don't know weither that's possible on an A16 - haven't looked inside of that one yet. But I suppose it'll be quite similar. Sure, it would void your warranty, but if you know a bit of DIY, you will quickly see weither that's possible.

Btw, found that link here.

I agree. Just keep in mind that some older motu models seem to have lower maximum voltage output than newer models. I don't remember how I found the linked sheet but it may help others to choose according to needs.

Just sit tight, Capacitor and I are working on multiplexed CV output with 4-8 channels per audio line, and it works with AC coupled converters.

its just a scope device at one end and a small electronic box (MCU, and a small amount of other chips)
it will probably cost less than $100 to build.

I had to stop for a while. I did not have anything voltage controlled with an accurate 1v/oct tracking to test with it. that will soon be remedied though.

I've been waylaid with a double whammy (looking for new contract PLUS moving after 5 yrs). Neutron is the man right now. All I can hope is to help enhance/test/document, once my ducks are back in alignment

Using Scope Mod/Flexor etc to leverage my way into hardware modules (meaning it could be usable without so many initially) or even just to add a bit more fun to my studio has occurred to me before. I would be interested in your progress on this as well.
