Motif 8 to split brain with E-mu X board 49??

Hi all,

New to Planet Z and desperate for some help. I have a 2002 Motif 8 that I've MIDI'ed to an E-mu x49 controller. It's easy to see that the x49 will clone whatever the motif is doing which is a nice break from the full weighted keys, but is it possible to send a separate patch (ie jazz organ) to the x49 while the Motif hangs back and does horns or piano?
