Solaris to PCI cards via spdif ?

Post by JoPo »

Hi !

I'm waiting for my Solaris that should arrive within next months. I must be ready ! I'd like to link my PCI cards to the Solaris thru analog I/O but also via spdif. Apparently, on my recently bought 15 dsp card, I've got a cable fouet classic 20 in which there is spdif I/O.

I see only RCA's. 2 yellow are named DIG IN & DIG OUT. Are they the spdif ?

The Solaris spdif are optical. Is there someone who could tell me which adapter I need to purchase in order to link them via spdif ?

Many thanks !

Can't one of the optical ports on the Scope card be switched to SPDIF on the sample rate settings window?

Normal Adat cables for I/O, then in scope setting select optical spdif

Hosa and others make an optical spdif to coax spdif adapter, if you don't want to burn an ADAT port.

Thanks Gary, that's useful to know as I have an ADAT port being used for Optical spdif as well so might have a look at that adapter. Cheers

I use the ODL-312 so the un used AES/EBU port gets used.
You need to go to 48k though.
Solaris only transmits @ 48k so the Hosa is perfect.

Thanks to all !

I already use the AES/EBU for my TC finalizer... :D And I want to keep it like that !

I was speaking about this (from Scope "connector" pdf p.2) :

Mine is not exactly the same : all RCA's are in plastic. But there is 2 yellow (like on the picture) "DIG IN & DIG OUT". Are they spdif ?

That's exactly what I'm looking for ! But on Hosa site, I just find - S/PDIF Optical to AES/EBU - or - S/PDIF Coax to AES/EBU - ! http://hosatech.com/product-category/di ... nterfaces/ No where any - S/PDIF Optical to spdif RCA - ! And I spended quite some time by searching an optical spdif <--> RCA spdif adapter without luck.
Or maybe with just a XLR - RCA cable adapter + S/PDIF Optical to AES/EBU ?

I think I've got 2 solution but I want to be sure which one will work :

1) I could go from S/PDIF Optical Solaris ---> S/PDIF Optical AES/EBU adapter ---> XLR - RCA simple cable adapter ---> Scope spdif RCA ?

2) Or should I purchase both - S/PDIF Optical to AES/EBU - and - S/PDIF Coax to AES/EBU - with XLR cables in between ?

I'm sure Gary knows ! 8) Thanks !

!! With better words for searching, I find hundreds !! :D Toslink is the key !

That one is bidirectional (in french) :
https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B07BPKMDKT/ref ... B00EDKXEQK
But only one way at the time. So 2 are needed.

Thanks for help !

But nobody confirmed that classic fouet "DIG IN & DIG OUT" are actually the spdif I/O ! Anyway, I don't know what else it could be.

Here is one I have had for years (unused currently)
