i don't think we can find these tones with anything else on the platform, or anywhere else maybe :) there is a color here that only modular and flexor have, unique tool, and why i love it.

should name this video "almost bought reaktor today, then i played with scope" ;) :)

Hi, so I've bought flexor, and gotten your patches Faxi - thanks!

But...

Alot of the Synth patches don't make any noise!

Anyone else finding this?

I realise I ought to be more specific about which ones don't make noise.
Take for example, the ones in the Starter section - even say synthstarter1 - no sound.

Also - for a while tonight - in some patches (incl. synthstarter), MVC A Freq goes to many module's Freq In, and when I click on the patch cable at the destination port, I get a dialog that says this:

---------------------------
EXCEPTION
---------------------------
nil reference on left side of '.' as a result of expression "vi"
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Maybe that was only because another Modular patch was 'behind' the front one?? I dunno, that behaviour seems to have gone now...

I -may- have overwritten some matching files from the Flexor install, clobbering their counterparts from the Scope 5.1 install...

Note: The Flexor patches all seem to work ok... Seems to be an issue with Faxi's?
No doubt, I'm doing something stupid - but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what that might be...

Might there be something wrong with the Modular III shell that Faxi seems to use? -- No, not the case - Modular 3 patches from the Mod3 install work fine...

Thanks for any help, Eanna

I realise I'm probably not specific enough for you to help me out here...

I do know that I can use Flexor modules fine - tried the oscs anyway - I don't think Flexor is the variable here.
It's like there's something in those patches from Faxi that I cannot use, for whatever reason. Something that means the patch doesn't work for me...
In only one patch I tried, I didn't have one of the module - so I know now what a missing module looks like when loading a patch (missing some .dev file or other)...
And I see many of the Starter patches don't have any oscs in them - so, yeah, I know they'll be no sound...
I have found -some- patches that do work - maybe one out of every 8 I've tried - I must get that list together, see if I can discern a pattern.
I've tried deconstructing some patches, removing modules so as to simplify the patch, but unfortunately, I'm not any closer to being more definitive what my problem is.

Will the VU Meter module show activity for all signal types (cv/gate/trigger)? Any other modules or strategies I can use to help diagnose what the problem is?

I think I need to be more definitive as to my specific problem - and I'll do my best to get that info before long... But, please feel free to suggest anything here..

Thanks, Eanna

That exception, I think it may have been because there was another modular window open behind the one I was clicking on.. Once I hid that window, that problem seemed to go away..

I recall the waldorf synth in a subfolder called trance (I think) wasn't working. I stripped the patch back to basics, removed all modules except one waldorf osc, sent it's output to the audio out module, and only got sound when I changed the wavetable from the initial default... Strange, I know!

I will do my best to be clearer later today faxi... Thanks man...

on some patches if you hear no sound, one thing it could be is on the synths that i used velocity control via the amplitude modulation module, there could be instances where i didn't pull up the modulation (the cable going from mvc vel-->amplitude modulation mod input) and/or didn't pull up the offset. (if you want velocity control, pull up the modulation, if you don't want it pull up the offset)

you can basically create any subfolder you want, as long as the modules are within a sub of your modules folder the system will see them. when you load modular, each folder in the modules folder is a tab. i would just make a flexor3 subfoldler and drop them all in there.

flexor modules are not stereo, save for a few.
Thank you Faxi !

I´m just back for 2 -3 days and will try ASAP !

Hi,

Combination of a variety of factors last night conspired to confuse myself... Between monitoring at low levels, the PolyOut1 levels being low on some patches, and what I discovered tonight, that my Scope card sometimes loses Clock Sync when selecting these modular patches - something I haven't seen before...

I did get this message on loading at least one of your patches:
---------------------------
Problem
---------------------------
Can't find DSP file MIDI X-in Switch 01 - Please check installation.

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

But I found what I needed in "Alfonso's Unison 6 module", here: http://forums.scopeusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=15018

Sorry for wasting your time! Great patches man. Loads of variety in there! Lots of ideas... lots to tweak, to learn.. lots of reasons for me to spend time with Modular :-)

Thank you thank you!

yes! that's the one for some of the star synths, i guess a bunch of people might need that one. i stopped using it since mod iv though, so there should be tons of other synths that load no problem.

Again, thx for help, Faxi !

Since last nite, I have FleXor up and running and checked out patches from Adern site 1st.

On XITE, w/ some patches I run into SAT connection errors soon.
P.ex. there are pad-patches being limited to 3-voice poly, but I get out 2 voices max. only and before I get the warning messages.

Now I wonder, when loading a modular by clicking on a modular patch preset,- on XiTE, what´s the in general best manual DSP assignment to start with ?

Sometimes I think my motherboard w/ PCIe standard 1.1 might be a bottleneck and if I had one w/ PCIe standard 2.0, that would help,- possibly.
Can that be ?
