I grabbed it last night, it was too good to be true (Flexor package).

I hope to spend some time with it on the weekend. I just started playing with Mod IV last night and well, it takes few minutes to get used to. The most confusion is the way the MIDI control works. But I loaded up a frequency sequencer and hooked it up to and OSC and a random pulse LFO on a filter and it was making some crazy weird noises without even trying! This is the best modular out there for sure. It's easy to make cool noises, but a bit harder to make it sound musical :)

Wow, you really ought to grab it while you can. Though I must admit I still need some of the other 3rd party modular addons myself...
Just realised I can get an upgrade from 1.5 to 3 for €89 from the Adern site, so I'm going to do that.

Yes, this is a good deal. Sonic Core stuff is so good that it's a deal even if you pay the full price. But saving a few Euros always helps.

Cheers,

I just downloaded FleXor and have some questions before doing the installation.
The zip.- file is called "Adern_FleXor3_Mac" ... why "Mac" ?
I´m irritated ´cause there´s no Win download.

In addition,- I got TWO activation codes,- one for "Software FleXor", the other for "Software FleXor 2+3".
What´s software FleXor ? I don´t see any installer, just only modules, patches (devices) and presets ...

According to the installation and from Adern website:

Description:
To install flexor with this zip there must be an edit in cset.ini. please refer to the ReadMe file inside the zip!

There isn´t such ReadMe file existing inside my zipfile.

So, what is it about the cset.ini file ???

The only readme file I can find is inside each of the patches zipfiles which says:
This is a Patch Pack for Flexor V3 By Adern
http://www.adern.com
How to Install:
Unzip to your SFP dir
enjoy!

Well, SFP directory ...
Can I create a subfolder inside my SCOPE presets folder and name it FleXor3 or MUST the presets go into the/my SCOPE_XITE root-folder which is inside the program files folder ?

Also from Adern download webiste:
UPDATE SCOPE 5.1: DO NOT OVERWRITE DSP FILES.

What does that really mean ?

a)
Don´t overwrite existing SCOPE 5.1 DSP files by probably older FleXor3 files w/ the same name?

or

b)
When having FleXor3 already installed, then upgraded to SCOPE 5.1 later,- "don´t overwrite existing FleXor DSP files w/ same named and probably younger versions from SCOPE 5.1" ?

thx

if you have questions, Adern is the best helper....

but-
i would do
a)
Don´t overwrite existing SCOPE 5.1 DSP files by probably older FleXor3 files w/ the same name

you can always overwrite with the files from the Flexor zip, if needed.

Flexor is older than v5.1.

the modules go in the appropriate modular module folders, OR in their own Flexor folder inside the Modular modules folder, so that they'll be available in the modular menus.

there are two keys because Flexor modules require one key and Flexor 2 modules require another.

Thx again, makes a lot easier tomorrow !

B.t.w.,- a friend, owning FleXor 3, he sent me his files ...
In fact, there´s a Windows installler file (dated 2007/06/19 - about 102.7MB) included in FleXor3,- so, what ACTUALLY exists for download and w/ the ending "Mac" on the name, is probably not complete.
OTOH, I dunno if I can use my friend´s installer .exe because it´s from 2007 and we have 2016 soon.

So, I hope, the "Mac" files will be o.k. for a Win installation, but I can´t resist asking, why in the world previously any Win installer for Flexor 3 existed.

yeah, you should be able to contact Assaf. he's not always as fast as you might like, but he's there.

the files are the same for any version. i suspect that the installer was 32bit, so for simplicity, it was decided to just leave the one zip folder for download. i don't know this, i'm just guessing.

Flexor 3 was released somewhere around 2007, and I've never seen an update released for it.

Yep, but I cannot wait because I´m here in my studio today only, then german holiday season starts and because father died I care for mum being blind and in the age of 95.
I do for all the holidays ´til beginning next year and won´t come back from tomorrow on.
No internet in her house ...

So, I tried to get help here quick instead contacting Assaf @Adern.

Well, I hoped someone here installed from zip-file named "Mac" and during the last days ...
I need to know what the "cset.ini" edit means and how the procedure works.
As I said, there´s nothing in the manual about that and there´s also not the announced ReadMe-file existing.
I´m on Win XP SP3 32Bit ...

I have no clue where to find a cset.ini at all, you know,- and I also have no idea what to edit when found.
It´s the last open question for me and I´d like to check out FleXor3 tonite and before I travel to mum for several days.

All your help from previous posts is, as always, very helpfull.

Thx a lot, merry x-mas and all the best for the new year !

:)

So, you´d say I can use the (my friend´s) Windows installer (because I´m still on Win XP SP3 32Bit) ?

When looking at all the included files, none is younger than mid/late june 2007 !

i don't think you need to touch the cset. i think that's might have been helpful in an earlier version of Scope.

your friend's installer will probably work. it's not hard to copy/paste the files, though.

I agree about copying. And if you have scope 5.1 and there are some files in conflict, it might be better to do manually.

O.k., thx,- makes sense !

I have several Modular directories inside C:\SCOPE/XITE application folder ...

BCM
CWM
Modular 2
Modular 3
Modular 4

Now,- should I add a folder named [FleXor3] ?

or,- should I create a subfolder (same name) and place into Modular 2 folder ?

Next question according to Zarg RD modules for FleXor:

Is it correct creating a subfolder named [RD-FleXor] and place it into SCOPE/devices/effects/stereo ?

FleXor modules are stereo, aren´t they ?
Target is having ´em in a separate sub-directory and not in a mix w/ the other stereo RDII modules.
OTOH I wonder where other devices might expect to find ´em.

I´m asking because I read 2 different quotes in a document on my computer,-

one saying "RD for FleXor" go into:
SCOPE/devices/effects/stereo/RDII modules (that folder)

the other says they should go into:
SCOPE/devices/effects/stereo (that folder)

Final question according to old Modular-1 modules and because some of Faxi´s patches need ´em:

Creating a Modular-1 subdirectory and place into Modular-2 directory is the way to go ?

hey bud,

you can basically create any subfolder you want, as long as the modules are within a sub of your modules folder the system will see them. when you load modular, each folder in the modules folder is a tab. i would just make a flexor3 subfoldler and drop them all in there.

flexor modules are not stereo, save for a few.
