Xite-1 demo?

Hi all, I heard recently that there are apparently Xite-1's out there which are "demo models" only equiped with Scope 5.1 but non-upgradable, so no possibility to switch to Scope 7 or indeed add any plug-ins beyond the 5.1 set... Does anyone know if this is true, so are there Xite-1's that cannot be expanded/upgraded? If so, might they be "unlocked" in one way or another?
