Question - XITE and PCs without PCIe slots

Post by circlingkailas »

Hi - I have two great audio computers that predate PCIe, they have the longer PCI slots. I would like to get a XITE, is there a way to get a connection to these without having to buy yet another computer/laptop? I was looking at Magma boards, their PCIe expansion boxes, but bizarrely it seems that the connector card that goes into the desktop is a PCIe.

Thanks everyone

You're better off buying a cheap PC than attempting any conversion chain. Even if it was cheaper there would likely be performance issues, and thats if it was possible at all.

With an investment like XITE-1 the workstation becomes secondary but you devalue, waste or worst case blow up your investment if you dont support it with a proper PC and slot, or laptop with Express slot.

Just my opinion, see if GaryB concurs....

i agree, especially when you can buy an HPxw4400 on ebay for $150-200 including shipping and a 4 head quadro graphics card. this is a major upgrade from what you have and it's a very high quality machine. there isn't much advantage to keeping the old boxes.
