Xite On XP

Post by fraz »

How reliable is the Xite on Windows XP?

Is it better on Vista? - or just the same.

I'm considering a purchase of the Xite but it is alot of money to pay (worth every penny probably - not disputing that.... ).

How much more powerful is this over a 20 DSP system? - I did read somewhere that it is 10x more than ???? what ???? -

Sorry to hear that the XTC isn't that reliable when in that mode.......

Would the Xite projects be the same as my Pulsar 2 projects pretty much? - Being 'SFP' (Scope Fusion Platform) I would have thought so but correct me if my assumption isn't accurate..... :D

actually, if the xite software is the only software and there aren't old pathways leading to pci device folders, there's no need to rebuild.

Been running Xite on XP (main DAW) for going on two years now with no issues. Rock solid.
Also FWIW rock solid on Win7.

Every Scope Xite release has improved (more dynamic) DSP allocation, and my projects are getting pretty big.

Rock stable on XP32 here - running PCI on same host.

'Incomplete Load Balancing' could mean sat connections can run out before DSP does, so you dont get to 100% on DSP meter (that could be fixed if they included SAT% on the meter as well IHMO).

Even so, in one of my first tests I got 35 voice polyphony across 9 different synths, and a mixer running and thats just on the XITE-1D smaller version (only 4 big DSP instead of 12).

I find XITE is best loaded when you use a diverse mixture of different devices, and Ralf once told me same thing.

yeah, people complain about the limits as though the performance is BAD for the money they spend. yes, it can and will get better, but just think, for the price of two 15 dsp cards, an XITE-1 gives the perfomance of a minimum of six 15 dsp cards, and maybe eight or nine depending on what is loaded...what a terrible performance...

Agreed. Thats why I think the DSP meter kinda sucks at the mo, coz if it showed SAT connections maxing out at 98% whilst DSP was still only at 60%, people would go "wow I'm utilising the full XITE power now - fantastic !"

LOL !!
