Not all meter modes available in STM4896 Xite

Post by katano »

Did anyone notice that in the STM4896 Xite, there are only two meter modes left (there should be 5 according to the pci version)?
Where have they gone? Or do I have a corrupt installation?

Cheers

I will check this when I get back to the studio next week, but I haven't noticed any change.

Hi,

Soniccore is fast these days. Here are the answers from Ralf Dressel (in German, short translation see below).

Ralf Dressel:

Short translation (sorry, bad English):
There are only two metering modes within the STMs in Xite-1 because of a completely different internal design/structure.
Important is what's coming into the channel and what's going out to the busses.
Instead, the busses and channels have an increased level of smothing when moving faders.

To level out the channels, one should use "post gain", afterwards "post inserts". the post insert level should never be overdriven.
The position of the channel faders can be arbitrary, as there's some new headroom functionality in the busses.
Of course you have to take down the master fader to match and of course it doesn't make sense to add 12db within the channel, when the post insert level is already at 0db.

workin with absolute levels within the inserts is the way to go, as there's also the possibility to embed external hardware.

good for you, but I can assure you they are not in some other cases, i've been trying to get scope 5 keys at register@soniccore.de or Ralf to no avail... 3 emails in six months just haven't been responded to. But i agree Mr. Dressel is pretty responsive

edit: fixed the wrong address

it's easy for a hyperactive spam filter to make trouble....can you imagine the sheer volume of spam that would flood an address like that? :o

probably...

send me your info and keyfile. i'm in no way S/C, but i'm sure i can make it happen for you.

dedicated? maybe, i don't get anything from cheerleading or problem solving, but Scope is such a cool thing, i try to do my part to keep it a reality. the forces working against a small company in this business climate are pretty powerful.

got 'em :D
i've part of the responsibility as the scope.rgy file i sent them was corrupted, and they seem to have a server handling part of the process automatically... maybe it was not equipped to deal with the rainy day scenarios before. sorry SC, and keep up the good work

now onto a wrestling match running win 7 on a 5 year old laptop 8)
