ATA Portable Studio

Post by dawman »

I just saw this and thought it is an excellent idea for notebooks and XITE-1.

http://www.skbcases.com/music/products/ ... 02&o=&s=78

I decided to shrink my stage rig, but just don't want to spend money on new stuff. I have spent enough, I need to save money for some incredible new devices and plugs and make the most out of what I have.
XITE-1 DAW w/ hardware analog, and hardware effects, QWERTY & Trackball, and everything I need can be stuffed into both sides of an 8U SKB Industrial Shockrack.
After the useless 6U DAW w/ 10.4 TFT LCD debacle, I decided I need my 19" LCD. I can't hardly even distinguish the desktop icons on that thing.
So I will use my LCD in one of those old Briefcase Mixer cases from SKB. It sits perfectlyu on top of my 8U.
XITE-1 project windows must have a decent sized screen, simple as that. Besides, why change a DAW w/ a perfect performance record.

But I must admit the above mobile solution sure looks perfect for a laptop XITE-1 rig.

I cannot see wasting anymore money on this crap.
I have successfully condensed 28U's down into an 8U and still have my analog synth, so that's it for me.
If I go with another XITE-1 later it will be w/ a Receptor 2U for Romplers, a 3 x drive Glypph, and a laptop, w/ that Flight Attendant looking rack w/ VAX88 in late 2009.
I tear down nightly and take home an 8U to practice and program, and grow tired of pullimg doubles. The pay is great but I am dead tired by Sunday from dragging these racks around.
I really miss having a crew.
Even w/ a pair of 2X reading glasses I cannot see the icons on a 10.4 TFT. If something goes wrong ( which hasn't happened ever ) w/ a Scope project, I can't imagine trying to connect cables in a project window.
64bit, 8GB's of RAM, new CPU......all of this is unnecessary.
After seeing my entire suite of apps run on an old E6850 and 4GB's of DDRII my quest is over.

Would I love to have a new super fast design in a portable mATX chassis and spend 2000 more USD....................No way Jose.
I will keep my cash in my pocket and buy a Model 7 if I buy anything.
After hearing several reverbs from Scope recently that might not even be necessary.
I will wait and see what comes w/ the new Scope 5.0 package and XITE-1, and quit wasting my time.

If it ain't broke......why fix it.

Brotha' Man Olive,
I was waiting for some elaboration on if the SDK part was buggy, or the user interface?
Almost 200 views and no comments...........
Well I will start then.

How does it sound @ 96k.
How does the 5.1 Surround Reverb sound?
Are you making a surround mixer?
Why did you recieve 2 units. Is one for Eric?
Will you send one to GaryB for 4 Large?

Does the software for the transferring of older keys work efficiently?
How the Hell did you get these...............Bloody Lucky You.

I better start Ball Bustin'. :D

Can anyone confirm whether the two DAS pirates are simultaneously giving everyone "the finger", or simply waving in a friendly Gallic fashion?
