Hello,

Just on my first steps with the B4000.
I'm playing on a piano keyboard 88 keys.
Using the regular presets the upper / lower split is usually put on F#3

But this is bang in the middle of the keyboard, this doesn't seem right to me.

Any piano player using B4000? how do you do it?

Use the plug-in editor to adjust the split settings the way you want it to be ... from what I remember.

Hello Hurolura,

When reading back my own post, it's seems my question wasn't clear.

I know how things are done technically using the software.

What I actually wanted to ask where is a good point to split on a piano keyboard?
One octave below middle c?
And do you put the octave parameter in the editor for the lower manual the same as the upper or put it 1 or 2 higher?

Or do you have to say, as you do not have a double keyboard as the B3 has, maybe it's best not to split at all.

And apologies if this is a bit of a stupid question, but we don't have that problem playing piano now do we?

it doesn't matter where you split it or if you split it at all - it's all up to your personal preferences or what pleases you most.
But for an authentic handling you need an organ keyboard.
There are a few models by Yamaha (Electone) that are quite light and detachable from the stand/amp construction which often show up in 2nd hand deals.
Those provide the proper midi control including footpedal for just a few bucks.
It's not only the splitpoint but also about the spring-loading of the keyboard.
If you have the space they make a great controller for (say) $100-150 - like this model

Well,

I'm not intending on bulding an organ.
But the links you sent sure where interesting.

Well I noticed that the organ keys are in fact bang on top of each other, I suppose this can never be 100% on a piano keyboard.

In the mean time I did remove all of the F#3 that is used in all of the plugiator presets.
Now there is either no split, or just the left most octave and a half for bassline.

We'll see where that get's me.

i guess its different using the plugiator or the b4000 asb....
with the b4000 asb you can select different midi channels for upper lower and pedal, so any controller with a multi mode will be able to store different midi ranges on a song per song basis...
on my controller i generaly like crossing over at e/f below middle c.... and as a rule i always lower my upper split down an octave and raise my lower split an up octave...this uncovers some ranges for both manuals and if i have to, my arms will spread apart to reach the zones i dont normally play in...
