looks stylish...
yet I bet there's one of those sh*tty Intel Atom thingies inside
the mobo with CPU is probably in the 10 bucks range for OEMs - I paid 50 for a single unit once, so it looks profitable at least ;)

cheers, Tom

oops, just noticed the power specs - at least the board must be different from the one I had...
24 Watt wouldn't even be enough to feed the southbridge of the latter
gonna ask my supplier tomorrow... :D

Uh, almost 500 euros! :o
For half price I prefer a Intel Atom laptop... it's a complete PC (keyb, monitor, mouse, etc.) and don't features incompatibility (like for Muse Receptor not all plugs are compatible, the commercial are hard to install!)

It's big brother the V Rack uses a Supermicro OEM ITX(http://www.supermicro.com/products/moth ... cfm?typ=C2) and can load any VSTi's, and plenty from what I've heard. My source is a rep from Harmon...
If these players can be inserted into projects, I say get one.
Keeps you from using 64bit and chasing the O.S. compatabiliy issues, and not only inserting it into a Scope project but live too.
FM8 would work well as it's effects are fairly good now. at least in 8.0 they sound O.K.
I like the V Rack because it has internal storage, the idea of streaming over USB scares off poly hungry guys.

That is exactly the one I am waiting for.....
300 gigs ...No windows hogging the CPU mathematics,
plenty of room for Sample based synths, and the speed for modelers....

I am loading mine with the AAS String Studio and Tassman products, Pianoteq from Modartt,
and the CS80V from Arturia..... The Box allows any parameter that the DLL allows, so PolyAT users can run on here as well...I will also feed my B4000 ASB through amplitube, and out to my leslie, and my prodyssey can double up as a controll surface to move 80v sliders around on the fly.......
Since these products require no Dongles, I can use the USB and Midi for controller inputs simotaneously....
Image
The Screen shot of the Software for computer(this is the software for the Vbox) allows you to setup your multis on your computer prior to getting the hardware....once you hook up the hardware, the extra ins and outs will appear in the drop down menues,as will the 16 encoders so you can directly assign to each VST for live control....

For front of House use, I can load up some SSL strips, the Master Comp, some Reverbs and DDL's

can it run other things besides vst? that might be handy to run max/msp monome apps

dont cubase have a thing where you can offload vst on to another machine, that could be done pretty cheap.

You set the Box up through your computer....
If you have an activated licence for your VSTs on your computer, you run the
VMACHINE Software, like you would run a VST host, and set up the different vst instruments for the midi channels, preset, control settings..etc and then a transfer is done
all the vst box needs is the DLL file for the VST, and the preset settings...
Very little space is used ...
Once the Transfer is complete , you can run standalone with all of your saved combi's intact.
