Minimax Bank change

Post by giadibe »

Hello to everybody

I'm new to this community and to Minimax. Maybe my subject was already discussed but I didn't find any solution yet. The problem is to find the right midi bank change command in order to switch between the factory and the user bank presets. Is that possible or is it better to store some factory patches in the user bank in order to use that bank only?

Thank you in advance for any suggestion

Are you talkng about an asb box or klangbox? the asb banks can be changed from the front panel. both boxes can do a bank change through control change, it's listed on the cc chart in the back of your manual.

Minimax Manual is a bit strange, Both 0 and 32 seem to be for Bank Select! Maybe one of them is patch change!

Thank you for the replies.
Of course I know both the front panel buttons and the CC 0 and 32, the problem is that I've tried using those CC without any success. Can you suggest as example which values should be entered as LSB and MSB in order to switch between a factory preset and a user preset. I'm using an Oberheim MC2000 as master keyboard and of course it's an ASB minimax

MIDI CC 0 is the Bank Select MSB. MIDI CC 32 is the Bank Select LSB. Viewing the actual MIDI data, the Minimax ASB sends the Bank Select LSB first, then the MSB, then the program number. The MSB/LSB reversal is counterintuitive, which may be the reason why you had no success.

To select Preset patches on the Minimax, send this MIDI CC data followed by the program number:

CC 32: 0
CC 0: 0
Program number: (a value from 0-127)

To select User patches use the same MIDI CC data order, but change the LSB to a '1':

CC 32: 1
CC 0: 0
Program number: (a value from 0-127)

your midi monitor is invaluable here. if you have an asb box. run the remote software and the monitor. change the bank and it will show you all of the midi data transmitted.
