Hi Tito, I tried to order from this site a few weeks ago too - no luck (Checkout cart kept looping).

Ended up getting my Prodyssey from Thomann... Good, quick service and cheaper than buying here in the UK - altough it seems that NOBODY in the UK has the Prodyssey in stock (or ever have!)

I think Anna is correct about the limited availability, I'm so happy I got mine when I did.

Yes, they did not bother to answer my order and emails, which was not polite, but probably they got an excessive number of orders because of the ridiculously low prices.

I regularly shop with Thomann, but no Prodyssey nor Pro-12 are available in Thomann shop currently.. You can be happy.

Cheers,
Tiitu.

Phew I got a Prodyssey ASB. Love it so far. Only few issues. Can't get the USB to work from the editor. Has to use it through normal MIDI which means that I have to change cables all the time from PC to keyboard. USB AUDIO driver is automatically installed when I turn on Prodyssey but I can't select USB from the remote sw.
Another issue is that when changing from one patch to another (for some of them) then hell breaks loose (like on the NOAH). It starts playing even if no midi key has been pressed. This means that it is hard to use live if you plan to change patches. Thought it was just a bug in the Noah. It seems that when changing patches it just changes all the controllers so if there is some long release time on then the sound of the next patch will start playing. Not really convinient operation.

Anyway I love it so far.

A friend got Minimax Klangbox and it just sounded amazing as well! Loved the logo on the front too.

I will probably update my web-tool to be able to convert Prodyssey ASB / Klangbox patches to Noah Midi CC#. The patch file format seems quite straight forward.

Hi Henrik,

Sounds like you've got a MIDI loop going on there (especially since you're using MIDI cables to use it).

Do all of your LED's flash when you get this problem?

As I don't know what set-up you have (Mac/PC - Logic/Live/Cubase?) the only solution I have for you at the moment is to remove the MIDI out cable from your ASB - that will remove the loop temporarily... Have a look and see if the software you're using is causing a loop also.

If you're using Windows, try the latest USB driver from Creamwear's site.

Hope I've been of some help.

No not a midi-loop problem

I tried to only connect midi-out from the keyboard to midi-in on the Noah and again on the Prodyssey ASB. They all have this problem that when I change the program# without holding any keys some sounds just starts screaming, generating strange sounds.
It's as if a long release time or reverb was used or will be used in next sound then changing the program# will change all controllers. I would expect it to be protected so only new notes would be with the new sound controller configuration.

Of course if you do this on the originals they would probably make a lot of strange sounds too. Just not very nice live or even when browsing for sounds.

Prodyssey Filter self-resonance response and aliasing

Post by Henrik »

Was playing with Prodyssey Resonant filters and measured the frequency response for all 128 settings.

Found out that values above 122 are the same. Hits the 16kHz highpass filter so has been "saturated" sw-wise. There is quite some aliasing at the high values as you can see. 117 and 120 has strange aliasing it seems. All other values has a nice flat response.

For the Minimoog filter values above 121 gives aliasing due to the 44.1kHz sampling rate (so 22.050Hz is possible). So folds back downwards.

Perhaps someone can use this table when using the filter self-resonance.

Next I am going to make tables for when using the KEYB as filter modulator. This is more usable like when making "3 note chord" voices etc. "Playing the filter".

My Prodyssey ASB and Klangbox both do this. Yes it is annyoying. Mostly happens for me if a sound that is being passed through has a high VCA especially those alien effects. Would be good if patch change also stated mute/keys off. I have not had the same problem with my PRO-12 as this does not have the VCA thingy! If one could type in the patch number when on stage and go to it instead of "dialling" it woud be good. That initial thump on switching on and fizzle when switching off are a pain!

My old Crumar BIT99 had a stage mode where you programmed a chain of patches. Then with a footswitch I would stomp through my patches for my setlist. yep - it always muted before going to next patch!

"VCA Gain Fader" opens the VCA without beeing controlled by an envelope generator. You can hear the sound endless, endless, endless ...

I agree, and it is a great feature.

However when you dial from one of these to another patch, you get some squarking as it re-adjusts. For me I do not play live so not a problem, just an irritation and a by-product of having to step thru the patches. If the ASB applied mute (kill sound) etc before applying next sound model on each patch it could resolve it.

Many thanks for the info... Very interesting. Found out a few other things too!

Referring to kybernaut_01's message on page 2 of this thread:

http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21500

If creamware *DID* actually model the Prodyssey software on a genuine MkIII, then surely the filters would only go up to 12K (due to a design fault in the ARP filter module for that particular revision... which can be, and I have, fixed).

Another thing is the Ring Modulator - having a good look at the Odyssey service manual reveals that the Oddy *DOESN'T* have a genuine balanced modulator as on the 2600! It's a CMOS NOR Gate, which simply compares the square wave outputs from both osc's and gives an out put that is similar, but not quite true ring modulation... a subtle difference I know, but a difference none the less which gives the Oddy a character of it's own.

This explains why I've never been able to emulate the ring mod correctly using Reaktor or my Nord G2 Engine when "building" an Odyssey... Just updated both of them with great success... The G2 sounds particularly good (to be honest, better than the Prodyssey!!!... NO ALIASING!!)

The Prodyssey is currently relegated as just a controller for the G2 - Don't get me wrong, I *LOVE* the Prodyssey, but as it stands, it's just not quite there and I genuinely don't expect Creamware to update it, if they firmly believe they've modelled it correctly : (
