Noah EX essentials for installing and interfacing

Post by betman »

Hi, I have not been here in a long time and though I have spent many years working with what is probably the older boards and devices I am asking ,,pleading that someone could tell me what software I am suppose to have to interface with my Noah EX.
runnning version 1.4.23

synths installed
B-2003
Interpole
Lightwave
Minimax
Pro one
Six String
Vectron
Vocodizer

Synths not installed
EDS8i
Prodyssey
Profit5

So that is where I am at, I use it ussually as a stand alone module with a axiom keyboard.
I would like to add the other synths if possible. I know that things have changed and this is older. But I have dwonloaded the software from the ftp site link that I found here. but I see a lot of references to software that is used to add the synths to the Noah EX. I am also running the older scope on 2 other computers. I use tripledat as well so I never updated past windows me. I do have computers that run xp if that makes a difference, I am obviously lost and probably very close to making it all work once I get the direction.
Thanks for all help. I hope I can be of help in the future as I will be more active in the studio these days.

I also read this on wiki , I will just paste it here.
"As the machine is EOL, no further plugins will be programmed, and CreamWare published all available plugins without the need of a license key, so every Noah owner can use those plugins. As of today, the following plugins exist for the Noah:

Profit5 - a Sequential Circuits Prophet5 emulation
EDS8i - a vintage analog drum
Prodyssey - an ARP Odyssey emulation
Six-String - a guitar modeling synthesizer
Vectron - a vector synthesizer, maybe inspired by the Korg Wavestation

The following plugins were included in the base system:

B-2003 - the emulation of the classic Hammond B3 Organ
Lightwave - a wavetable based synthesizer
Minimax - emulation of the well-known Moog Minimoog
Vectron Player - stripped version of the Vectron plugin
Pro-One - SCI Pro-One emulation, this was developed together with Wine Country "
http://www.sequencer.de/synth/index.php/Creamware_Noah

You see where it mentions at this time, the license keys are not required. So is that why the files for the Noah EX are named " nokey.oxe" ? Just curious, I haven't talked to Ralf in a long time. Once again thanks for all the help.

that wiki post is incorrect. it is not possible to get new keys. it MIGHT be possible to get a replacement keyfile from S|C. the "nokeys" oxe just installs without the need for keys, since the original oxe files used to install the key as well as the device. a key is still required to use the plugin.

I see, thanks for letting me know, so even the ones I don't have installed are not available to me then or is there a way to get the key? Also on installing the Noah 1.1 from the rar file I downloaded. Can I install that on my laptop with XP running? Or do I have to install it on a computer running Scope?
Thanks Gary for the reply and correction on that misinformation.

plugins that are not already registered to your Noah are unavailable to you. this is because S|C is not Creamware and doesn't have everything that Creamware had produced, including keygens.

sure, you can install the Noah software on your lappy. Scope is not required.

I think I will try that Gary, I have the zipped program off the ftp site but I guess I am not so sure if it is stand alone or if it needs the 1.0 first. I was looking at the files that are there unzipped but with all the folders and everything it is not so easy to save them that way. Well I have always been pretty happy with this synth, I just thought it would be cool to have the Prodessey and even that profit5 as well, but if I can edit myself some new patches or whatever they are calling them,, that alone would be a great benefit. Thanks again.

it's standalone. just be sure that you do NOT upgrade the unit's os without having a keyfile backup first!

ok, do you mean the 1.4.23 or is there a way to see what the current os is? I just went through fixing a Korg Wavestation sr that someone had lost the ram banks and sure dont want to lose what I already have on the Noah ex. Maybe if I do a midi dump to my laptop with the noah 1.1 software?

Well I guess that the Noah 1.1 zip is osx and that is not for pc. lol, I dont know why they don't have a zip file for the pc version. If anyone knows where I can get that I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

Ok so I finally found a good working copy of the pc version of the Noah remote 1.1 software. Upon install it asks me to plug in the Noah Module via usb before it installs the driver. Do I need to be concerned about this install changing my Noah Module just by plugging it in like it asks? If so then how would I be able to backup the Module? Or is that something I can do after I get the software loaded without affecting the Module. I am a bit paranoid as I know that there is no support or backup keys from Creamware / S|C . Getting closer. Thanks

there is no Creamware.

you can't do anything mto the Nioah's os without doing it on purpose, barring catastrophic data corruption from something unknown like cozMIC ratz...
