Vocodizer volume level - Help !!!

Post by learog »

Hi All,

I managed to get the vocoder working with the multi presets and a mic pre-amp ( a Shure SM57 wouldnt trigger without it).
But I notice that the difference in volume level when using the vocoder is a lot lower ( about a quarter) of the volume whne monitored on the Noah headphone out.

If I switch back to Miinimax , then the analogue out level is nice and loud.

Anyon have any idea why the analogue out for the vocodizer is so low , when headphones is much louder

I've had a LOT of difficulty with the Vocoder as well. I couldn't get it to change patches, nothing. It sounded awful. On my old Supernova I just plugged in a mic and it worked.

I'd be interested in anyone who can answer this as well.

I sussed it

Set Noah to Multi mode - then select the patch banks for Vocoder Light wave or Vocoder Minimax

The audio input seems to be line level , instead of mic level.
So it needs pre-amp boost to line level.
I used the mic preamp on my mackie desk , and put a jack lead direct from the channel out,and voila

Some lovely presets.

Still my fave piece of kit , as I keep finding more new /good stuff

Ahhhh, Multimode is the key, OK, thanks! I will give it a try. And yes, I was practically screaming into the mic to get any signal so I'll need a preamp for sure.

Thanks again

Did you switch the sensitivity of the inputs to High? There is a switch in the back panel, I don't have any problem with mics or even a strat plugged in.

I did indeed switch to high. Maybe it was the microphone.

I went to multimode and adjusted the "In Gain" and voila - a wonderful vocoder! Thanks so much for your help!

I agree that this would e easier with a preamp for teh mic though.
