Cant route main mix in Cubase to Adat out - Please help...

Post by k500zm »

Hi

I've been using scope for years - but I just cant work this one out & I'm beginning to lose any sanity I have left :(

I just bought a Behringer ADA8000 and it's great. In my non DAW system I have all Adat inputs working fine and am just using 1 Adat out pair as a monitor for headphones using Asio out to a seperate amp [see pic] in normal mode.

In my DAW system I am using XTC mode and have all the Adat inputs working fine & routing into cubase5 in vst connections.

However when I'm recording vocals with a mic I would like to switch the main mix temporarily to the Adat out pair & amp [as in the other system] so I can use the headphones to monitor the mix and not get interference from the speakers & then switch the main mix back to the pulsar out after.

I just cant seem to find the right way of connecting up the xtcproject so the Adat outs are visible in vst connections. This is what I have at the moment.

Can someone please point out the error I am making ?

Many Thanks :)

Should work alright. You need to set up your routing in Cubase.

voidar - thanks for your reply - but it isnt working !!!!!!!

I've set up the vst connections and they're all active

I have made the default output to the asio2-flt source 2l & 2r going to the adat dest 1&2 and I'm getting no sound.

The cubase mixer is showing that the mix out 2 is getting the signal but nothing is coming out of the Adat out in the ada8000.

I'm really at a loss - anything else ???????

Ok, the non-XTC project you posted works?

You know how to operate the ADA8000?

Ok I just installed SX3 and tested the non XTC project & it works fine.

So there must be a problem with the XTC project !

Ooops what?

I run a pretty similar setup and no problems here. I use REAPER though.

Does outputs 3L and 3R work? Like when recording the mixdown?

forget the oops - i was editing the post.

Yes outputs 3L and 3R work for recording the mixdown - thats what I use them for.

edit - I copied the non xtc project over to my DAW partition and checked it with cubase 5 with the same arrangement & that works.
but not with the XTC project :(

I notice you use different ASIO drivers for your means of operation, but that should make no difference.

The driver is obviously passing audio.

Are you sure the ADA8000 is hooked up correctly? Input, output, clock etc. Is it locking to Pulsar master clock?

Tried changing asio drivers to 24 bit as per the non XTC project - no difference

AFAIK the ADA8000 is hooked up correctly - I dont change any settings ADAT is always locked to scope as Master.

My brain is beginning to fry :o - gonna get something to eat and try again......

OK well - It's amazing what some good food and a break can do.

I just scrapped everything and built the project from scratch and now everything is working

Thanks voidar for your help :) [I notice you're from Norway - I just Dj'd in Oslo 2 months ago! nice vibe]

I would never have guessed that, but sometimes projects do get corrupted and rebuilding them is the only solution.

Hey, cool. What club?

I don't do much clubing myself. More of a pub person, but one never knows ;).

It was in Destiny Café, Skippergata a pub / club. The first night of a new party which plays alternative electronic dance moosik.

I will be coming back to play in the coming months.

I really liked Oslo and the people were really friendly. (I'd only ever been to Tromso & Narvic before)

Anyway, Time to make some music I think

Ah, that place. Bit trashy area, but I can't say I'm not familiar with the lower streets of Karl Johansgt. ;).

What name do you go by?
