sx3 doesnt recognise scope plugins?

Post by the19thbear »

i have been using cubase sx 2 for a while, xtc mode, and it's been working fine! I really like the workflow! but just because i wanted to, i decided to test the xtc function in sx3 as well, and oh no! it wond load my xtc plugs! i can see them in the "plugins information" but they are all brown (meaning that they failed to load..) i can refresh the plugins, but that toesnt really do anything.. i can't seem to reload them..
any suggestion??

i'm fine with using sx2 but still, there shouldnt be any problems with sx3..

thanks.

1. close sx 3
2. open sfp - deselect XTC mode and relaunch SFP
3. launch sx 3
4. go to devides - plugins. refresh plugins
5. exit sx 3
6. open sfp - enable XTC mode and close SFP
7. launch sx 3

if problem still, go to devices-plugins and refresh plugs.

for me it's fixes ableton live XTC problem (live don't recognise XTC plugs at all).

also, if you install antiviral program or microsoft activesync 4 you may get XTC mode off at all.

hope i help you :)

Does SX3 have problems with legacy VST specs? I believe XTC is VST v2.1.

@the19thbear:

have you tryed to klick the left checkbox of the brown-disabled plugin?
Whith the klick in to the checkbox cubase/nuendo will reload the xtc-plugin and a checkmark in the box will appear.

For all the XTC-PlugIns you possess it can takes some time.

So if this is to complicated, there is another possibility:

In the startmenu folder -> programs -> cubase X menue folder is a spetial application data folder, or something like that.
In german its called: "cubase/nuendo Anwendungsdaten Ordner.

Open this folder, there are all User specific datas.

In this folder are two filesnamed "VST Plugins.xml" and "External Plugins.xml".

Move these files on the desctop (maybe you make a backup file someware).
Make sure that these files are realy remooved in the application folder.

Now cubase/nuendo will reset all plugins at the next restart and all the XTC-PlugIns will be reloaded at one process (takes some time).

To be sure that cubase/nuendo will find the XTC-PlugIns after replacing the "VST Plugins.xml" make sure that the XTC-Plugins are installed in the correct folder.
Mostly the XTC-folder is in c: programs (folder) \- steinberg \- VstPlugins.
Check the path and search the XTC folder there.
Make shure that cubase/nuendo have the same path for the "shared plugins folder" in Cubase/Nuendo-> Devive -> Plugin-Information folder.

Maybe this is especially your problem. Maybe you have to teach cubase where the xtc-folder is. By installing Scope the first time, there were no cubase sx 3, perhaps scope have istalled the xtc-folder in cubase sx2 - plugins-folder. So teach Cubase in the Device -> Plugin-Information menue the right path.

hope this was usefull.

regards

T.
