For a bit of research I'm doing, here, it states Studio Electronics (well known for their rack mounted versions of classic synths) was founded in 1981.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_Electronics
But here, under 'About' - https://www.uaudio.com/about/ - it claims "Bill Putnam, a natural entrepreneur, started three audio product companies during his long career: Universal Audio, Studio Electronics, and UREI." And that apparently happened in late 1950's when Putnam was persuaded to establish a studio in LA and move from Chicago.
Trivia time : Was there two US based companies called "Studio Electronics" ?

Good microphones too.
My son bought a mic pre IIRC called Red and we argued about the company.
Then I showed him the Code8 I never use and he realized they were both real companys.
