Cool article about Kraftwerk citing Minimax ASB

Post by spacef »

I was making a research about the legal case of Kraftwerk vs Nur Mir (a 20 year old litigation about a 2 second sample of "Metal Auf Metal" by Kraftwerk, used without authorization. the European Court of Justice ruled on July 29th 2019 in favor of Kraftwerk).

I wanted to know what drum machine Kraftwerk used. Then I sawq that they cite Maschine and Minimax ASB as modern replacements of their older stuff :-)

https://www.factmag.com/2017/06/24/kraf ... -machines/

:-)

May be the article was already known to Z members, but I didn't know it. Enjoy !

Yeah ... Passport in the 70s ...
Wolfgang Schmid, Christian Schultze, Curt Cress, Klaus Doldinger were the best lineup IMO.
Saw the ´75 Jubilee concert w/ Brian Auger which was great !

I liked the way Kraftwerk used technology and the sound(s) they created,- but even it was very creative, their minimalistic musical style was never my favourite.

I saw Auger with them too.
The Boardwalk in Atlantic City late in ‘75 IIRC.
Went to NYC to see Chick, Herbie and McLaughlin playing in the Village and Soho.
Quickly snapped out of the trance British music had me in with ELP & Yes.

Watching Herbie Hancock play Butterfly

Saw Kraftwerk just a few months ago... Fantastic show! They rocked hard at times, beautiful tones and melodies at others. Sound was unbelievably solid (and no, it clearly was not a tape being played with mimicing, very much live), the 3D/video show was underwhelming, but neat at times. Had a trippy night out.

"Butterfly",- I love that tune !
It´s one of my all time favourites like Chick´s "King Cockroach" is.
McLaughlin ...
Just watched a vid from a Hamburg/germany concert in the 90s I missed.
Dennis Chambers, JMcL & Joey de Francesco ... man, that burns !
Dunno WHY I missed that,- must have been out of town.

But we have to be careful now because we hijacked this Kraftwerk/Minimax thread.
